Went out this morning. Caught four (although one on a Senko was maybe 1” longer lol). Biggest was 1.5 lbs. This one was a pounder that swallowed a Zoom Trick.

It took the hook deep. I got it out with zero blood loss, but I needed to get the Trick out of the way to see what I was doing. But something else was in its mouth as well as my worm. I had to remove that as well.

I looks like a craw bait, but OMG how long was it in that bass’s stomach to end up looking like that? It was very soft and falling apart. I would have liked to have taken a pic of the Trick and this in its mouth, but was didn’t waste time due to how deeply it was hooked.

I once caught a dink and when I was unhooking it, I noticed the tip of a senko sticking out of its mouth. I squeezed its belly and it slowly came out and it was still usable!

I caught one bass on a ZMan TRD, color California Craw and noticed something in his gullet.  Grabbed the pliers, pulled it out and it was another TRD, color California Craw, in relatively good shape.  I'm guessing it had only been inside him for a day or two.

Only difference was the jighead, mine was 1/15 oz., while the ingested one was 1/10 oz. (a size I rarely use).  Other than that, this dude got tricked by the same bait twice.

....and this is why I no longer use soft plastic worms, creatures or senkos. I've seen it, too, and took a worm out of a fish's gut.        jj

I caught a bass once that had a half digested snake hanging out of its...well...how do I say this...its hole opposite of its mouth

I believe it is called the vent.

Only thing I've found in a fish mouth was my own hook from half an hour earlier. Was a striper in a river. I set him free, sans hooks.

Wow. Two in two days! This one had what appears to have been a Yum Dinger. Thought it was a Senko but it has the hook slot like Dingers do.

Who is losing all their soft plastics to these fish??!!

Good question. But to be honest, while I have never to my knowledge had a bass ingest my soft plastic after I hooked it, I have lost Senkos, Zoom Tricks, or other similar baits on snags, fell off while reeling a fish in, etc. It’s possible a bass may have come along and inhaled one of those.

Good point.

In one of the local lakes it's super common to catch a bass with a nasty looking soft plastic in its throat. Usually senko style baits. I think it's from people wacky rigging them without a silicone band or oring so they just get pulled off the hook.

Last summer I pulled in about 50 yards of line that terminated in a really foul smelling Texas rigged senko still hooked in the throat of a what I assume was a bass.  The rest of the fish was gone but the throat was still there.  It looked like a slimy tube.

Neither of the two I caught showed any evidence of a remaining hook and both pulled out easily. Makes me wonder if it was truly lodged in its throat, or was it regurgitating it from its stomach during the fight?

Plastics tossed overboard then consumed by fish ?

I have watched Youtube videos of people throwing their beaten up plastics back into the body of water they are fishing. Its super annoying

I’m with you. The only thing I put back in the water is the fish.

I laughed so hard at this video.  It's long so here's the summary. He loses a hollow body frog to a pike (bit off).  He ties on another frog, same pike bites that one off too. Then he uses a spinner bait and eventually catches that same pike. Later in the video he cleans the pike and gets his frogs back. (caution, some curse words used in the video).
