Finessegenics Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 I picked up some Keitech spin jigs in 5/32 at a heavy discount today. (https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Keitech_Tungsten_Guard_Spin_Jig/descpage-KGSJ.html - TW link for reference) With a #2 hook on these things, what do you guys use as trailers? Even a TRD seems too big. I suppose I can trim the plastics down but I’m curious as to what you guys do. Quote

Tons of choices depending on the style you like: Tiny Paca, baby menace, rage Ned craws (or any Ned trailer for that matter), Z-Man Baby Goat, or anything baby, tiny, etc. Or you can cut down a larger trailer to match as long as the appendages are not oversized to the jig. That last part is my hang up...the fish probably don’t care. 1 Quote
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted March 26, 2021 Super User Posted March 26, 2021 I did really well a few weeks ago with a Rage Tail Grub. (I think that’s what’s it called). I still trim a tiny bit off the nose to. shorten it up for a compact presentation. 1 Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted March 26, 2021 Super User Posted March 26, 2021 Not sure if these are as small as the Keitech Tungsten Mono Spin Jig, but if so, they're much smaller than people realize. Look at the crappie plastics section for ideas. I've been using 1.5"-2" tubes, a 2" section of Roboworm tail, and a custom poured chunk (closest commercial is ISG Bambino Finesse Chunk). Hard to find something small enough that doesn't overpower these little guys. 2 Quote
Big Swimbait Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Zoom now makes a Tiny Chunk that would work. 1 Quote

There’s one next to a TRD. I find the TRD to be slightly too big of a trailer for my preference. Maybe I’m just being picky and should cut them down a bit I think you’re right in suggesting I take a look at crappie plastics. I have a few packs of straight tail worms that get almost no use so using only the tail section wouldn’t be a “waste” for me either. 9 minutes ago, Big Swimbait said: Zoom now makes a Tiny Chunk that would work. I saw those while searching the web last night. I think they may be perfect but they are hard to find here. Ordering from TW isn’t a viable option either as shipping & duty fees here to Canada are just way too much $$$. Thanks for the suggestion anyways Quote

Hard to find something small enough that doesn't overpower these little guys. There are quite a few different baits I use with them. The 2" and 2.5"swing impacts, 2"easy shiners, 2.5" live impacts and 2.5 spider from the same company work well with them. Reins makes some of my favorite baits to use with them. The 2" G tail fits them really well. Its a twin tail grub that has alot more then bulk then the ktech 2.5 spider grub. The 2.5" ring craw can work on the guard jig because of the bigger hook, but I think it can hinder hooksets on the mono jig. The 3" bubbling shakers and rockvibe give you a similar look to the live impacts and swing impacts respectively so its a matter of personal prference on which one to use. Ive done well using tiny paca chunks on them, it gives them a different look. Missile Baits makes a little craw Imation called the drop craw that matches up well, havent really fished them a whole lot, but I dont see why they wouldnt work. Last but definitley not least the Tiny Brush Hog. Depending on what you do to the brush hog it can look a little bit like everything. 2 Quote

OG Crankster Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 I use a missile baits drop craw. Cut maybe an inch off and it fits great. 1 Quote
PotatoLake Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 2.8 Keitech crazy flapper. My favorite Ned bait. 1 Quote
