Kywih Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Would using kvd line conditioner help with the memory on red label? I was thinking about getting some KVD conditioner but haven’t bothered to order it. I’ve read a review that said line conditioner would getting rid of coating on red label. Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted March 23, 2021 Super User Posted March 23, 2021 I'm not a scientist, didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I believe that KVD L&L Conditioner doesn't get rid of anything, in fact, I think it bonds to the line. Someone much smarter than I will comment. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted March 23, 2021 Global Moderator Posted March 23, 2021 I’m certainly not smarter than anyone but I’ve never heard that. I don’t use red label for anything but can’t believe it would. It coats the line but Never heard of, or read about any disclaimer. Mike Quote

Mike yeah it sounds far fetched but the person could’ve been using like reel magic and that stuff is just horrible. 1 Quote

I'm not aware of any coating on Red Label line. KVD L&L only improves handling of all line and I've never had any negative effects using it for more than a decade. 2 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted March 23, 2021 Super User Posted March 23, 2021 I don’t have KVD line conditioner but do have Red Label from 6# to 20#. I have it on bc and spinning setups. I don’t use anything on it. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 24, 2021 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 24, 2021 "I know a guy"....the guy who invented KVD L&L. He used to advertise here. He's a passionate angler and wouldn't be happy with anything that damages line. His product doesn't remove any line coatings or damage any line. Rather than remove anything, it literally fills in the microscopic pockets and abnormalities in line, thus making them smoother and more supple. 4 Quote
Super User GaryH Posted March 24, 2021 Super User Posted March 24, 2021 Use it on all my reels. Never any issues. 1 Quote

Super User MN Fisher Posted March 24, 2021 Super User Posted March 24, 2021 Don't use KVD on braid, but everything else. Even made 12# YZH manageable on my Trion-35 spinning reel. I won't switch to anything else - KVD is the one. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 24, 2021 Super User Posted March 24, 2021 I've used KVD on braid for years. It helps slow down fading, but doesn't do anything else. 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted March 24, 2021 Super User Posted March 24, 2021 I use it on Red Label and it helps reduce memory and adds a slicker feel to the exterior. Quote
5by3 Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 Used it on red label for years with no issues. Quote
Drop shot-1 Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 I dint know if any coating on red label or any of the seaguar fluoros. I seriously doubt they’re least fluorocarbon line has some coating on it the other lines don’t. The line conditioner works Quote
RDB Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 I used it on 2 reels and didn’t like it. I use fluoro and felt like it made my line look cloudy (kind of milky like the color in the bottle). I had a few of my partners compare and they agreed there was a clarity difference. Might have just been a bad batch or user error but I’ll just stick to a good line stretch if I have memory issues. Edit: I use Sniper or Tatsu so I can’t speak to Red Label. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 25, 2021 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 25, 2021 Few people know you have to shake it every time before you spray it. I told him to add that to the directions on the bottle. Not sure if he did or not. 2 Quote

First item under Directions is 'Shake well before use'. Quote

Not sure if he did or not. I can’t remember if I shook it or not. It was well over a year ago since I used it. I’m usually pretty good about following instructions though ?. I have several reels that I don’t use that are spooled with fluoro. I’ll spray some on and take before and after pictures. Quote

Be sure to spray several pumps on a paper towel after shaking it, to ensure you're using the mixed (shaken) product and not the unshaken product currently in the pickup tube. 2 Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted March 25, 2021 Super User Posted March 25, 2021 I only use Seaguar Red Label FC and have been applying KVD Line conditioner on it for years. I also apply it on my braid and monofilament. In fact not to long ago I bought a lifetime supply. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted March 25, 2021 Global Moderator Posted March 25, 2021 My money is on you forgot to shake it up good and not just once to do a bunch of reels. I use Sniper also and never saw any residue or change in color. In my opinion, Sniper and Tatsu really don’t need it but I do it anyway, especially from 16# and up. Mike Quote
Dirtyeggroll Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 The only line conditioner you need for Red Label It sounds like some others have had a good experience with that line, but for me personally I have tried it several times and I’ve always found it’s best that it ends up in the same place. 1 Quote

Where's the challenge in using quality fluorocarbon? ? Quote
