Hey: I have a Garmin 160 , I bought from Cart 7, he was nice enough to include a mount for our Min Kota. This boat is in it's last season and we have taken it off the lake to fish a few ponds, some with stumps and stuff we have never seen.

I want to use the Garmnin but do not want to put it onto the back of the transom, any suggestions for a temp way to mount this transducer without going through all required on an aluminum Hull boat?

This boat retires Nov 1, so I don't want to get too complicated.

By the way : we are talking an 11 ft.tinny , 35lb thrust MinKota, no gas motor on this one

I might have missed the point Muddy because you mentioned you had a "mount for our Min Kota." That's where my sensor is mounted, right on the motor pod using a 6 inch or so hose clamp. Ty wrap the wires up the shaft and over the transom, works great, and the sensor is pretty well protected by the skeg.

One other 'temp' fix I used was that I attached the screen unit to 2 inch wide Velcro tape, that way I can move the unit easily say from bow to stern on my boat. (Which isn't very far on my 10' Predator!)

I am sorry I should have stated myself more clearly. One of the ponds has standing timber on a side no one fishes, never seen a boaty on it. I am worried about the toher side and not seeing a rock or stump fast enough and scrapping the transducer. From the looks of things, it is all less than 5 ft of water on the shallow side.

Muddy,

Mount the tranducer to a wood board & then C-clamp it to the gunnel.

Thanks, that is simple enough to do with my limited mechanical skills. That is what I was looking for.

Clamp the transducer to your shoe and dangle one leg into the water.   :o

I thought that's how you work the foot controlled trolling motor

I have a aluminum transducer mount that clamps onto the transom of my aluminum boat. It will swivel out of the water and you can adjust the depth as well. I think it is made by Tite Lok. You can probably find them in one of the Fishing and boating supply catalogs.
