Y'all ever just forget to put an important piece of tackle on a rig, finish rigging the setup, then realize you forgot it and strip the whole thing and start over?

This happens to me when I do Texas rigs, mainly while snelling a flipping hook.  Since I'm so focused on the snelling portion of the process, I occasionally find out, after finishing the snell, that I had forgotten to put on the bullet sinker or bobber stoppers XD.

All the time. It’s almost as aggravating as forgetting to open the bale on my spinning reel when I change out my line. Almost

I've done that a few times and the first time I didnt realize all that had to be done was remove the spool , open the bail , replace the spool then close the bail .

A couple time a year I forget the sinker on a Texas rig .

Sometimes I forget to put the line through the line guide after refilling the spool

Whenever that happens for me, it'll take 10-20 turns of the reel handle before I realize my line has completely covered one side of the spool

My favorite trick is tying on whatever lure, cutting off the what I thought was the tag end then dropping the lure in the water when I cut off the main line!

Tom

Yup, or cutting off the tag end and wondering where the heck you're supposed to tie the dropshot weight.

Happen to me a few times, skip line guide on the rod, cut the main line, forgot to thread line to line guide from the reel.

The worst one and happened more than quite a few. I prepared the jig or chatterbait with trailer, then drop the jig in water without knot tied. I remembered, I did this twice while in my boat.

I normally pre-rig my rods while waiting to launch. It seem I always forget to put the line through the reel's guide on one of them. I'll tie on a lure and set it on the deck and don't notice it until I pick-up that rod to use it.

I'll repeat that same scenario multiple times throughout the season.

That, my friends, is the ultimate brain fart.  Well, that and forgetting to put the drain plug in.

Ever cut the tag end of your line and toss your bait over the side just to find out you actually cut your main line? I've done that more times than I care to admit, usually on days that are already frustrating.

This is one of my main ones, and sometimes I do fully believing that indeed I was trimming the tag. One time I did this 3 times in a row. ?

I'm always sure I'm cutting the tag - just that occasionally I cut it too close and cut part of the knot itself.

Y'all amateurs ?

Yesterday went to Academy to pickup a few things one being a pack of 6th Sense Peg-X Stoppers. Last night I was putting everything up when I got to the stoppers which I usually just cut the top of the package.

Well I didn't have my reading glasses on but thought I got this, grabbed the scissors & proceeded to cut the top off every little wire loop.

An oldie-but-goodie is grabbing the handle of your old-style tackle box and picking it up...only to discover you forgot to latch it closed. And watch in horror as all your lures and tackle tumble out.

One time I snapped a line on the cast that caused a minor backlash.  I had to cut a bit of line and as I ran it through the guides sitting in my kayak I somehow forgot to run it through the line guide on the reel!
Fished all day like that before noticing line was spooling very unevenly.  lol

Yep, just completed a drop-shot knot and go to rig worm and realize hook is upside down........there goes 3ft of leader.

My phone started ringing so I decided to soak a T-Rig I just tied on and then answer the phone.

Wound up to put the spurs to her. Nothing. Forgot to engage the reel. Answered the phone and looked down at my T-Rig only to find that my knot must not have been very good cuz the T-Rig was gone.

Got the double malocchio.

Yeah, that plus missed a guide on the rod or the levelwind on the reel. I've also clipped the main line instead of the tag after a knot. It happens.

I have an old Plano box that I swear is alive and always tricks me like that

Pull that tag back up through the eye from the point side.  Depending on your knot, you will probably flip the hook.

Theoretically, I have a 50/50 chance of tying a dropshot hook on right side up.  And yet, I experience a 95% probability of tying it on upside down.  Even knowing this ahead of time and intentionally trying to tie it on upside down won't allow me to tie it right side up.
