I was looking at the Daiwa JDM Ballistic FW LT Spinning Reel and was looking for some reviews on it since I can't seem to find too many. Are these better than the original Daiwa Ballistic LT and how do they compare to other high end spinning reels? Not sure if I want to spend the extra cash for the JDM version over the regular ballistic. On a side note, should I opt into a faster IPT for spinning reels since I would be mostly using it for finesse?

I can't comment on the JDM Ballistic but I "briefly" owned the Ballistic LT and was not impressed.  I returned it after one week of fishing and exchanged it for a Stradic which I have been very happy with.  The Ballistic I purchased had line lay issues and it felt VERY cheap compared to the other Stradic's I had been used to.

It is well worth it, at least for me compare to any reels in the same price range.

The different between the USDM ballistic LT and Ballistic FW is Zaion rotor and that help a lot in lower inertia. It is smoother and lower inertia than Vanford.

I am not sure what Daiwa does to Ballistic FW, my friend just got Ballistic FW LT along with Luvias airity and he also confirmed that Ballistic is less effort to spin the handle out of the box.
For the gear ratio, this up to your preference. The 5.2 gear for IPT about 27-29” which is fast enough to keep track with the fish and not too fast when you want to slow thing down. The 6.2gear with about 34” IPT help when you wanna keep pressure on the fish at all time but harder to slow down. I fish both gears for bass but for panfish I’d rather use slower gear because it helps when slow retrieve cast and reel or jigging technique.
