I have several Gees Minnow Traps and they work great, but I have trouble getting them to stay closed with the clip that comes with them. It will fasten but not tight, and the trap always has gaps between the two halves where minnows can escape.

Right now I’m using twisty ties but it’s not ideal, is there a more permanent solution? Really irritating because if I don’t add this extra level of security they come apart pretty easily and I’ve lost traps before.

Man is that the only solution? I was hoping for something easy, like another clip of some sort.

Would small bungees be easier? That also works. Coat hanger is free and easy to bend to the right shape.
