Super User Bankc Posted March 23, 2021 Super User Posted March 23, 2021 I bet you'll like it! Good thing about orange is it's high visibility. On a lake, it's easy to get unnoticed by a ski boat or someone not paying attention to where they're going, especially in the summer when it gets more crowded. You kind of have to keep your head on a swivel at all times. New boaters are the worst, where they haven't learned how to set the trim on their outboard and just run full throttle with their bow sticking straight up in the air so they can't see anything in front of them. YoTone Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 One thing im super jealous about on the PA is the double steering control. having the steering on my left is a pain when holding a baitcaster on the same side. If weight didnt matter and if i didnt have to car top id switch up. Quote

Here is my first fish on the new Hobie......skunked on the bass though Deep lake Washington 2 Quote
12thManStanding Posted March 24, 2021 Posted March 24, 2021 Looks great, and nice fish! I still haven't fished deep lake in a boat. I've been really pursuing a kayak instead of my 12' aluminum boat. Where did you pick up your kayak, I believe live in the same general area. Thanks! Quote

Hey man, I picked up mine at the sportco in Fife....they had one more identical to mine left and they had one 360 there which I was going to buy but it doesnt have a seat or drive for it yet and I didnt want to wait cause I'm a "I want it NOW" guy....lol My parents live on deep lake and that's why I went there first....I've caught a couple decent bass in the past and tons of trout. The most annoying part of deep lake is the algae/seawead or whatever basically goes to the top of the lake.....drives me nuts! Quote

I just went and looked at this kayak. Its a 2020 Slayer 10 and he wants $2500 for it after his upgrades. Weight meaning lugging it around so lighter. Most if not all decent kayaks weight handling won't be an issue. I personally stay away from shorter than 12' boats unless i was looking for something specifically for rivers and maneuverability is a concern. That being said I was skeptical when I bought my 14' kayak but now that I have had it for 5+ years I am loving it. It drafts shallower than a shorter boat and maneuvers good enough for my needs. One thing to consider when buying used is warranty, should you need it, is usually null for a second owner. Just noticed you got one...great boat and have fun with it Quote
Alex from GA Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 I think the title of this thread was trading a boat for a kayak. My take is have both. I bought a kayak 18 years ago to get into places I couldn't get in my boat. I use mine almost exclusively on rivers and creeks. Quote
VolFan Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 I’m in the same boat... ive had a kayak for 20+ years and just love fishing out of them. But this past year I got a boat...and there’s no replacement for displacement. Quote

While the idea of a lever to go backwards is weird to me, some people prefer it. The larger issue is is that lever has been known to be a common point of failure and can be hard to engage or disengage. Some model years seem more prone to failure than others as well from what I understand. It's probably not something you'll use enough for it to be an issue. Quote
Born 2 fish Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 I went from a kayak to a bass raider 10e and would not go back to a kayak. Quote
Fishingmickey Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Deleted not pertinent anymore. Congrats on your Hobie, I love my PA14. FM Quote
