Luke Barnes Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 I'm new to the finesse jig scene and my first one was a SK finesse football head. I used a chunk trailer and a few things. It was long since I just hooked it through the meaty part and it made the hook visible and the skirt section seem really thin, since it has a thinned out skirt. Does everyone use chunks or a full bodied trailer to fill out the mid section, but I'm guessing a slim trailer like a rage menace to not be too bulky. Quote
00bullitt Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Often depends on the hook, but if a 1/0 or 2/0, I like the Paca Chunk Jr. or just a good ol double tail grub. I'm not a fan of chunks. 1 Quote
huZZah Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 I like big 4-5” curly or double tail grubs. I also don’t use chunks. Craws work as well, or the weird bug things everybody makes now. But I like grubs. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 21, 2021 Super User Posted March 21, 2021 Netbaits Paca Chunk or the Zoom Super Chunks. Quote
Finessegenics Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 I’m also not a big fan of chunks. There’s a lot of great 3” ish craws on the market. Any of the “baby” rage products, XZone finesse craw, Powerbait Chigger bug and even just any old double tail. Quote
Brett's_daddy Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 If you want something buoyant that will last forever check out Zman Pro Crawz. Quote
Luke Barnes Posted March 21, 2021 Author Posted March 21, 2021 So far the consensus is no chunks. I never used them before this year because I just got into finesse jigs. I have Rage baby craws and baby menaces. So I think I'll stick to those and only one small jig i have actually looks good with a chunk so I'll leave that one the way it is. Quote
Westcoast Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 I like the net bait tiny paca chunks, zman trd craws, the reins 2.5” craw and the zoom creepy crawler double tails. Tons of great options out there depending on the action you want to create. One thing I’ve noticed is with the rage products, the lighter jigs don’t fall fast enough to activate the bait, so I only use them on larger jigs. Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted March 22, 2021 Super User Posted March 22, 2021 I like the Zoom Swimming Chunk on a finesse jig. Quote
CountryboyinDC Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Depending on the jig, chunks like the Paca can wrap around the hook sometimes. I still use the Paca chunk for my finesse jigs, and in certain water, a Missle Baits Twin Turbo (double tailed grub). I would imagine the Rage Menace would do good too. Quote

Because I have no self-control, I have an order coming next week that has some baby GOATs in it to pair with 3/16th ounce finesse jigs. Pretty much the same thing, and I think they'll be a banger in the right situation. 1 Quote
rtwvumtneer6 Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 I also prefer a double tail grub. If you don't want a ton of action, a smallie beaver also gets the nod for me. Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 22, 2021 Super User Posted March 22, 2021 What does the SK 1/4 oz finesse football jig use to hold soft plastic trailers on the hook shank? What size Grammy hook? I will assume a size 2/0 hook and a small barb on the jig head. If you nose hook a trailer just put. 1/2” length of finesse worm on the hook shank, same a pork nose hook trailer. #101 UJ Spin Frog would be ideal (eBay). Iovino 2” twin tail hand pour jig trailer works good. Tom 1 Quote
ImThatGuy Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 I like the megabass bottle shrimp for finesse jigs. Quote

I have a few small jigs with TRD Crawz on them that I need to change out. They got hot and now are all deformed and weird looking. I need to see if they still float up I guess, because as long as they do it should be ok? Quote
jdr99a Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 I’ve had luck with curly tail grubs and craws with my finesse jigs. I’ve cut/bitten off half an inch or so of a full size craw lure and used that on a finesse jig as well. Quote
walleyecrazy Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 My favorite finesse jig trailer is the Baby Bizz bug made by Bizz baits. It’s 3.25” which is about the perfect size for most of my finesse jigs. 1 Quote
HaydenS Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 A Yum Craw Chunk is a fantastic finesse jig trailer. 3 Quote
Deplorable Fisherman Posted March 27, 2021 Posted March 27, 2021 Big Bite Baits 3.5" College Craw is what I use. 10 pack for $3 can't be beat. Quote
Luke Barnes Posted March 28, 2021 Author Posted March 28, 2021 That's my TRD Crawz jigs. They have no action so that's why ive been asking what everyone else uses. They look really good and the class float and thats cool. But I want a little flutter out of a trailer sometimes. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted March 28, 2021 Super User Posted March 28, 2021 I use small Larew craws that I found on Ebay and Reins ax craws. Allen Quote
