hoosiergramps Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 what have you come up with to keep all your plastics organized and ready? I just use an overnite bag. problem is finding them when needed. Quote
huZZah Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Gallon Ziplocks in my fishing backpack. 1 for stick baits, 1 for swimbaits, 1 for creatures. There’s bleed over, like paddle tails that aren’t swim baits are in with swimbaits cause they’re paddle tails, but it works for me. Im strictly bank so it’s organized but also if something comes open it doesn’t get all in my backpack. And it allows me to carry a lotta choice in plastics fairly easily. 1 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted March 21, 2021 Super User Posted March 21, 2021 Bags go into Plano 3607-10 open compartment boxes. Each box labeled with the type; stickbait, craw, fluke, etc. Boxes go into a pair of Cabelas/BPS Advanced Angler II bags - each bag can hold 7 boxes. Those tuck under the rear seat of my canoe. Quote
12thManStanding Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 I had 2 old tackle boxes that weren't being used, so I removed the trays which basically turned them into a storage box. In one I have all types of worms and in the other, everything that isn't a worm. I just started fishing last year, so I can imagine that those who have fished for years would have a bigger collection of plastics and might need more room. Quote
Super User ATA Posted March 21, 2021 Super User Posted March 21, 2021 After trying everything finally I put all of my soft plastics in one small igool cooler in their original packing, and I only take few that I’m going to use that day in my backpack. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 21, 2021 Super User Posted March 21, 2021 I used zip lock gallon bags for years. Finally went with large speed bags. Most Plastics stay in the original bags although I will remove any clam packing deals for space. A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User ATA Posted March 21, 2021 Super User Posted March 21, 2021 But if you must use some box, I recommend this one: Plano Molding 3600 Worm Stowaway 361610 Color: Clear, Dimensions: 11 x 2.5 Quote
CountryboyinDC Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 I use what they call wallets or binders. These are also where I keep my wire baits (buzzbzits and spinnerbaits), although I bought another system for spinner baits I'll try this season. I now have a couple of them. https://mustad-fishing.com/product/mb022?color=Gray%2FBlue&size=N%2FA&quantity=1 PCS https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-tackle-binder-or-replacement-pages The one from BPS is different from the one I have, but I guess they discontinued that one. It has zippered closure and quite a few pockets built into the shell, but this one looks as though it would accomplish the same thing for storing soft plastics. I actually leave the baits in their packages, including the clam shell (Keitechs, Rage baits), but the binder gets thick in a hurry. 1 Quote
RDB Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 For home storage I use the plastic clothing containers with lock on lids. They are the perfect size for 3 rows of plastics in their original packaging. When on the boat, I use smaller 2 row containers that go in the boat storage compartment. 2 Quote
Bass Rutten Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Plano z-series lure wrap. Roll up style binder works great for plastics, lures, even big ol swimbaits. 1 Quote

Dens228 Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 I keep colors to a minimum. I have all my plastics contained in two 3700 Plano boxes. I bring enough of each for a few trips in case I hit on a hot color and don't want to run out. Quote

I fish from the back in club tourneys and use a tackle bag for hard baits, terminal tackle and such. For plastics I use the Mustad binder you referenced. It is pretty sturdy and I like the two sides. Usually put worms in one side and craws/trailers in the other. It does fill up pretty quickly! Clam shells can be a problem, especially the Keitechs, although the Rage baits will fit. Sometimes I will use it in combination with Speed Bags, the Keitechs fit in these pretty well. Both binder and speed bag fit easily in the compartment the boater provides. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted March 21, 2021 Global Moderator Posted March 21, 2021 I also fish from the rear deck. I use 3600 boxes separated horizontally. One for stick baits, creatures and swim baits/trailers. Mike 1 Quote
schplurg Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 For bank fishing I have one plastics bag (say a Yum Dinger bag) and I stuff it with a few of each of my favorite plastics - flukes, paddles, lizards. I may have 25 or 30 in there. I also bring individual bags of stuff, but I usually only have a few of each inside. I don't carry full bags anymore. Too bulky and heavy. And I have a smaller ziploc for used plastics that I can sort out another time. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted March 22, 2021 Super User Posted March 22, 2021 For this year, I loaded my soft plastics into three open compartment 3700 boxes, one for anything I'd use as a jig trailer, one for anything I'd use as a finesse bait and one for senkos and power worms. Then I'm going to get another one which will go in the tray under the seat in my kayak which I will pick out what I plan on using for the day so I don't have to bring all three boxes. Quote
mheichelbech Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Travelling shaving bags work well. I like that they have other pockets where I put the specific terminal tackle for the baits it contains. For back of the boat tournaments I use the KVD worm bag. It’s bigger and works as well as anything I’ve been able to find. Quote
