Super User slonezp Posted March 19, 2021 Super User Posted March 19, 2021 She's a beast. More than twice the size of my PB of 7-1/2lbs. https://bismarcktribune.com/news/state-and-regional/whopper-walleye-landed-by-dickinson-man-could-smash-state-record/article_71067479-7340-5f12-92ff-9356caf6ee83.html 4 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 19, 2021 Global Moderator Posted March 19, 2021 Man I'd love to catch a monster like that some day but that would destroy our state record and DD walleye are only slightly more common than DD bass here. Quote

Closer to home and bigger potential: http://arkansasroadstories.com/nature/walleye.html I have had my best luck at night on Bull Shoals fishing Lucky Craft Pointers. Quote

I've caught some nice 'eyes from Bull, mine have been on Keitechs and A-rigs though. My problem in Arkansas is the variety. I get around stripers, big brown trout, lmb/smb/spots, and hybrids, I start having a hard time keeping my focus on fishing for other stuff. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 19, 2021 Super User Posted March 19, 2021 In 2008 Bull Shoals flooded after the trees were in leaf. Trees were under water and their tops dotted the coves with "Christmas trees". It seemed we were fishing in the middle of nowhere, but the fish were staging along the fall-line. This was the first week of June when for 2 1/2 days we never went 15 minutes without "Fish On!" Mostly smalljaws. The Three Amigos are fishing 6/1-6/5 with Tim "hotdawg" Curtis. Our focus will be smallmouth. but I'm hoping we can get out one night while we are there and hunt some eyes. Possible World Record on the horizon! Quote
Super User gim Posted March 20, 2021 Super User Posted March 20, 2021 North Dakota’s walleye season never closes so they can target pre spawn females in rivers there. Which is something we are unable to do here in Minnesota unless you can get on the Rainy River. Quote
