Super User gim Posted March 18, 2021 Super User Posted March 18, 2021 Did you catch it in Jacksonville, FL? The photo looks more like a northern state or even Canada. Well done by the way. 1 Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 18, 2021 Global Moderator Posted March 18, 2021 Sorry @gimruis, it’s an old George strait tune. If you’ll buy that he caught a 50” inch musky in FLA I’ll sell you the ocean front AZ property 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted March 19, 2021 Super User Posted March 19, 2021 I really just wanted to know if he caught it in Canada or the US. I also assume it’s not from last year since the border has been closed too. Unless of course he lives there. 1 Quote

My Brother and I arrived @a remote Cabin around 0330 in Ontario and safe light was only 45 min away. We quickly donned insulated bibs and heavy coat as the temp was only low 50's and the water much colder. In short order (10 casts) my brother hooked up a 48 in Muskie and at that point I knew it would be a great week. Throughout our 7 night stay my brother and I caught and released 8 Muskie(4 each) that were handled gently, revived and returned to the lake, along with Pike, walleye and crappie which were released in a fry pan of hot oil for our dinners. Two of my Muskie were over 50 inch which is considered trophy class by U.S and Canadian standards. This proved to be a great challenge on fresh water tackle. I was able to spend quality time with my brother and 3 nephews which was overdue, and want to thank my brother for being my outfitter, my guide and GREAT company on this adventure. 4 Quote

They are all not this year's fish, I have been privileged to have the passion, job, wife, and health to travel the country and some of the world in pursuit of big game fish from Bass to Blue Marlin. But my luck in Casino's and the lottery sucks!!!!!! LOL Maybe if I worked as hard @ gambling as I do @ fishing my luck would change, but not much chance of that happening. Quote

I've been up in Canada chasing musky too, and it's great fun. 1 Quote
YoTone Posted April 2, 2021 Posted April 2, 2021 Congrats! I wish I took the time to measure mine. I was so exhausted from the whole ordeal and I felt pity on the fish for the long battle that I only took a few pictures and released her. 2 Quote

You know...I spend as much time chasing muskies as anything else I fish for...and I don't have that as a goal. If it happens, it happens, and I'm going to have a ton of fun with it along the way. My "preferred size" for musky is actually between about 30" and 45"...I think that's where I get the most bang for my buck. ...and no, I don't think folks trying to get a 50" fish are silly, or dumb, or any of that. They shold do what makes them smile...or in the case of a 50" musky, jump up and down, holler, and laugh like a mad man. 1 Quote
