G3Steve Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 I've had the most confidence in exposed hook presentations. My favorites are a white trick worm on a shaky head and a wacky flick shake on a dropshot. What are you guys using? 1 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted March 16, 2021 Super User Posted March 16, 2021 Something slow. Probably a jig, or my #1, a trig plastic worm 1 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted March 17, 2021 Super User Posted March 17, 2021 Chatter and square bill have been best so far, but spinnerbait and swim bait coming on. I'm not a fan of subtle plastics in cold water. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted March 17, 2021 Global Moderator Posted March 17, 2021 Pre spawn has mostly come and gone down here. There are some lakes in Central and North Florida that have a higher percentage. If I was to target them my favorites are a white/chartreuse spinner/chatter bait, and a RI Houdini Skinny Dipper. Super User bowhunter63 Posted March 17, 2021 Super User Posted March 17, 2021 Start with a trap then t rigged craw or creature bait Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 17, 2021 Super User Posted March 17, 2021 So far it's been a spinnerbait, and a crankbait. Quote
TriStateBassin106 Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 First full pre spawn since 2018 so i'm still learning the ropes for this time of year but the bait I'm throwing the most right now is the lipless crankbait and ned rig.. have I caught any bass on them so far in 2021? No, but I'm keeping faith especially with the lipless. The baits I should be throwing are chatterbaits and senkos, but I'm stubborn and want to learn new techniques Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 17, 2021 Super User Posted March 17, 2021 Jigs, jigs, worms and swimbaits. Tom PS, Did I mention jigs? 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 17, 2021 Global Moderator Posted March 17, 2021 bladed jigs, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, traps 1 Quote
lynxcat Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 In Texas, I’m using Chatterbaits a lot. My pond is super clear right now so I am trying to give a swim jig a fair shot. I missed a big one yesterday but bites have been few and far between. Got an order for some more swim jugs at Siebert’s so restocking the coffers to give it a fresh go. 1 Quote
Biglittle8 Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Traps and Texas rigs with a jig and jerkbait thrown in. I've been catching fish on the trap all year, even in winter. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 17, 2021 Super User Posted March 17, 2021 Swimbaits and Jigs..? Quote
papajoe222 Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 When it's in full swing (sometime NEXT month), I like a using a blade bait as I can fish one at multiple depths, A flat sided crank, A 4in.-5in. suspending jerkbait and a JIG. Closer to the actual spawn, I'll break-out a popper or a Crazy Shad for some topwater action. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 18, 2021 Super User Posted March 18, 2021 Pre-Spawn Is Upon Us! What's your favorite bait? Third slot from the left - Either one of those. A-Jay 1 Quote
Kenny Yi Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Swim jig and T-rig, soon a topwater frog will join them! Quote
Mbirdsley Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 We’re still in a almost full blown winter pattern. Supposed to be 65 in central Michigan Monday. Than it will get down into the 50’s for the next week Quote
00bullitt Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 For me, its: Buzztoad around wood! Square bill on rocky banks. Jig or Zoom Super Hog in the wood. Crankbait or spinnerbait on the depth transitions in front of wood. Neko rig under/around docks. And once they move up on bed in shallow water, a white double tail 5" grub on a 1/8oz shakey head. 1 Quote

Super User Catt Posted March 21, 2021 Super User Posted March 21, 2021 We're about midway through the whole process. This is the only time of year I have no favorites, conditions are consistently changing. What's hot right now Light Carolina Rigs with lizards or baby brush hogs. Wacky Rigged Senko Chatterbaits or spinnerbaits Stanley Rabbits Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 21, 2021 Global Moderator Posted March 21, 2021 Pre spawn is 3-4 months long so I use lots of things Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted March 21, 2021 Super User Posted March 21, 2021 You know the "don't use crankbaits from shore thread"? Let's just say that's not what I'm finding on the water right now in a big way. 1 Quote
Skunkmaster-k Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Mepps spinners and creme pre- rigged worms with spinners and beads Quote
