Deplorable Fisherman Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 PAD172HA or PAD174HLMA If you are using 3/4 oz sinker you also need to take into consideration the extra weight from the lure, hook, swivel and bead on a carolina rig. Getting into that 1 oz range the other's in that list aren't going to cut it (if you want some wiggle room - I find you really want that wiggle room and not have a rod you are pushing the limits on all the time). 1 Quote

Super User Fishes in trees Posted March 17, 2021 Super User Posted March 17, 2021 3/4 oz weight and 10 lb line - Do you really have to go so light one your line? Seems to me like you're just asking to break your main line on the hook set going to light. If you're needing that light of a line to get bit, why not just go 10 lb fluorocarbon from swivel to bait? I've done that, but my main line, from reel to where the weight/swivel is more like 17 to 20 lb. 17 or 20 stand up better to the sturdy lob cast that will be needed to get reasonable distance better too. 2 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted March 18, 2021 Super User Posted March 18, 2021 If you're using light line, I would go with the PAD172HA to match - although I would strongly suggest using a main line of 15-20 and using a lighter line from the swivel to your bait like @Fishes in trees said, it will hold up being dragged over rocks much better. 2 Quote
Super User ATA Posted March 18, 2021 Super User Posted March 18, 2021 PAD174HLMA and change your line 12 to 15lb test. 1 Quote
