Johnbt Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 I was about to complain that TW doesn't have them listed and I have a gift card burning a hole in my pocket. I just checked... they have them. I see on the FishUSA site the 7'2" MHM Power Target Cranker weighs 3.4 oz. Decisions, decisions. Wait and see if the Loomis 845 ever comes in, get a Dobyns 705 or take a chance on the least expensive of the group. Think of the money I'd save. (You know what I mean, think of the money I could spend on other stuff.) Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted March 19, 2021 Super User Posted March 19, 2021 I'm hoping they're so good that most of you snap them them up, love them, and put your Mojo Basses and Dobyns Furys up for sale in the Flea Market for a steal of a deal! ? 1 1 Quote
CountryboyinDC Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 I ordered one through FishUSA, which went through, but then got this message. Which is okay, I just got caught up in the frenzy of this new rod (and I really do want to try it) and bought another ~7' MH/F casting. I've already got several in the attic. I do want to see if it's a worthy successor to the Avid. Definitely lighter, although @.ghoti.'s write up suggested that it fishes lighter too. 1 Quote

Deplorable Fisherman Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 (edited) I ordered from TW and it "looks" like they still have stock. Not sure if their web site updates inventory in real time? Just had a chat with TW and they said their website is updated in real time, so if it is showing in stock then you can grab one and it looks like all the first release models are still in their inventory. I'll live vicariously through the people on the forum that were on the ball and placed their orders before the first incredibly boring virtual meeting of the day. 11 minutes ago, Deplorable Fisherman said: I ordered from TW and it "looks" like they still have stock. Super User NorthernBasser Posted March 19, 2021 Super User Posted March 19, 2021 A guy on Youtube has had a few of these launch models for a few weeks now. He just dropped a video today talking about them. One thing that seems to be consistent is just how light they are. For example, the 7'3" medium Victory spinning weighs 3.53 oz. The NRX 872 (also a 7'3" rod) weighs 3.56 oz. And the 7'0" medium Expride, which is 3" shorter, weighs 3.77 oz. 1 Quote
Sherlock 60 Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 Just ordered the 7'1" MF Finesse spinning rod online from Thorne Bros. All the Indiana suppliers were sold out of everything, but they were all local shops (which was my first choice). I was going to wait a while but Thorne Bros website said the out of stock rods wouldn't be available till August 1st! I couldn't wait that long. ? Quote
ArthurLK11 Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 My 71MF spinning got delivered yesterday. Was able to fish it for about two hours before sunset. Caught 3 largemouths on it up to about 1 and a half to two pounds and one jumbo bluegill. Fished it with a 1/8oz jighead and also with a 1/4oz jerkbait. Sensitivity on this is great. Better than on a Mojo Bass and I believe it's slightly better than on an Avid, although it's not as good as on a Legend Xtreme. You guys could've probably guessed that. It worked perfectly with the jig even though it was 1/16oz lighter than what the rod is rated for. Action in the tip is perfect for bouncing it off the bottom and the hits were extremely vibrant. Very noticeable difference compared to a Mojo Bass. I love using fast action rods for jerkbaits as well and this one was great. Casts a mile and takes minimal work to put flex in the rod to make that lure do what you want. My biggest and really only beef is with the handle. Too long and uncomfortable, not to mention I hate foam. Wish they would've just went with a simple reel seat like on the Mojo Bass. Overall I think it's a great rod for the price and if you're considering this or a Mojo, get this. Slightly better rod with an extra 10 years of warranty. Hope it's okay for me to say this, but I'll have a 20 minute unboxing, testing, and review video out on YouTube tomorrow at noon. 5 Quote

Sherlock 60 Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 For a light spinning rod like the Victory 7'1" MF should it be paired with a very light reel or would something like a Stradic be appropriate? Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted March 20, 2021 Super User Posted March 20, 2021 Mine showed up today. Really impressed with the weight, especially for a sub $200 rod. I have 2 rods lighter and one the same weight, but there's more than $200 in parts alone in each one of those. I really wish these blanks were available, I'm sure I could build a sub 2.5oz rod the this model. I think there's a typo on the rod specs though. There's no way this rod is rated for 20-lb line 3 Quote
