kayaking_kev Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 I always keep a couple of them around to throw while bank fishing when it's too risky to throw more expensive spinner baits. They have always caught me fish, but the skirts do like to come loose and always need readjusting. Quote

Then why do I buy hundreds of dollars worth of lures and still dont catch anything when I should be using a rag?!?! Great question. The rag comment came from a story my father-in-law told me over 50 years ago. He was a Florida road surveyor working back in the fifties. He always carried a fishing rod in his truck. One day he spotted a likely spot. It was an old spillway miles from anywhere. He had his rod and reel, but for some reason had no lures. He ripped off a piece of red rag he found in the truck bed and tied it on a hook. He told me he caught a 6 pound bass on the rag. I have no reason to doubt him, but I wasn't there. A bass will eat anything alive it can get in it's mouth. If you want to catch bass that have a taste for rags, you know what to do. ? 3 Quote

I fished with a man that did very well with the one dollar spinnerbaits from Walmart. He caught lots of bass over 5 pounds including one over 9 pounds. I have caught nice bass on them as well but prefer fishing with Booyah spinnerbaits since they are more durable. Quote
michaelb Posted March 13, 2021 Posted March 13, 2021 They can work fine and are worth the money. Perfect for guests and children. Quote
Super User WRB Posted March 14, 2021 Super User Posted March 14, 2021 Haven’t been inside a Walmart in over a decade, they killed all the local small mon & pop stores that carried quality products. Cheap is cheap, not my thing. Tom 2 Quote

Super User ChrisD46 Posted March 14, 2021 Super User Posted March 14, 2021 *I like the Academy Sports inexpensive Wahoo Spinnerbaits for when I want to do some underwater "off - roading" ... If I lose one (versus say a BOOYAH Covert series spinnerbait) - then no great loss . Quote

I feel they should charge $2 and pay their employees better. You do want to secure the skirt with wire or a tiny zip tie, and maybe wrap a little solder on the hook shank, then they do ok. Their tandem blade size combination is actually good, the wire is soft, so they won't last long. Quote
Super User Bird Posted March 14, 2021 Super User Posted March 14, 2021 Never tried them. Use to throw some SK and migrated to Terminator and now throw mostly KVD. I've tried cheaper imitation baits in the past and always ended up disappointed. Quote
