I mean they catch fish. There’s a thread on here where he made them into underspins.  They have their use.

I use them in really nasty rocky areas where I’ll lose them. Or for my kids.

They have their place. I'd rather just pay 3 extra dollars and get a Strike King spinnerbait though.

I prefer the Academy brand spinnerbaits. They are Wahoo brand. $1.99 and 10x the color and blade choices of the Wally world ones

Everyone should have one or two of them. When they are just hammering spinnerbaits I use them so my good ones don't get destroyed.

We have lots of big pike that just love to tear up spinnerbaits while looking for bass. $1 for a spinnerbait works

They’re great if you want to fish quick because the few that I got have undersized blades.
You’ll need a few for your outing, the skirts come apart fairly easily.
Last but not least, if your favorite buzzbait got mangled, the frames on the Wally spinnerbaits are perfect size to remake a buzzbait with just one bend of the spinnerbait arm. Make sure you save the buzzbait prop and rivet.

So for 1 dollar you can fish with it and learn how to make a buzzbait.

I’m thinking of buying one because there a dollar.

If time = money you just spent more than $1 on that spinnerbait. Just buy it and decide for yourself.

Tried one and the wire broke (not the line) on a fish that was 3 feet from the boat.  Never again.  For a few bucks more you can get one that will last forever.

For a cast and wind bait they will work , after all Beetlespins catch bass by the millions . But , they have a cheap swivel that keeps the blade from spinning when the lure is paused . A lot of bass are caught when the lure is paused . If you want to save some money just look for the least expensive bait with a ball bearing swivel .

You can catch bass on an old piece of rag tied around a hook.  There is a world of difference between a quality spinnerbait and one that's made to sell cheap.  Sometimes you can find quality baits cheap on a close out or some other such anomaly.

The components of a spinnerbait are very important.  Wire diameter, wire bend and line tie location all affect the vibration, which is one of the most important factors.   Blade shape, plating, polish, thickness and connecting hardware do like wise. If you and I went fishing and you used a cheap spinnerbait all day and I used one of my favorites, you would see the difference.  You would catch fish.  I would catch more and better quality fish.  Lots of people give up on spinnebaits when they don't catch fish for them.  If they used the right baits, threw them in the right place and learned the right cadence, they would change their mind.

I would argue the opposite for the same reason. Pike destroy cheap ones pretty quick...or bite them off completely. That is why I loved the terminator titanium series. They were so much more durable than other spinnerbaits.

Agree with this big time. I grabbed a cheap one just to try. It caught some fish, and I enjoyed throwing it. It’s a very interactive bait. Not quite just chuck and wind. I liked it enough to grab a couple good quality baits. Boom a whole different world then the cheap ones. The difference in what you can do with them and how you can fish them, are not even close. A quality spinnerbait has become a serious weapon of choice, that literally catches fish on every outing. Yeah, I like spinnerbaits.

I want to add that just because you buy a quality bait it may get out fished by the cheaper Wally World bait due to wire diameter etc. This summer my co angler had a War Eagle I gave him tied on and I had a good strike king tied on, and I got out fished 3 to 1. I love War Eagles but they don’t last long, the bass were even bending the thicker wire strike kings. It was one of those frontal bites where you get less hits, but the ones you get are monsters. I now carry multiple brands, SK, War Eagle, Booyah, and H and H, Seibert, to dial myself into a bite. I agree pricier baits are better, especially the swivels, but the cheap ones may win the day sometimes.

I am not sure what brand you fish, but if I get more than 20 fish on a spinnerbait I consider myself lucky. Brands like War Eagle are less than that, but on average put more fish in the boat for me most days.

Last I checked, WalMart doesn’t make spinnerbaits.  A lot of guys are probably buying the same spinnerbait with a different name on it and in different packaging for more money.  ?

I was referring to the ones at Wal Mart for a $1 or $2.  War Eagles are my favorite.  I also like Stanley and Terminator.  I have one from Molix in white that I have not caught anything on but it is the probably the best made one I have.
