Hi everyone,

I've been trying to thin out the mice around my tractor shed ( they live under the front of it) and so have been live trapping them ( 4 so far and counting). To keep track of my progress I have a trail cam set up.

Most nights I just see this ( he went into the trap soon after this was taken)

However, last night was quite busy

Thanks for looking

Two trail cams in Arizona confirmed two jaguars that have wandered that far north.

S. Texas has a closely guarded population of 35 ocelots.

Laguna Atascosa NWR was established for them, and the roads closed to motors after a road kill a dozen years ago (you can bicycle there).

We've seen some of their footprints on Horse Island when we stopped to stretch from our kayaks.

They are distrustful critters. Fortunately all we’ve gotten was trash can flipped and trash everywhere. Now they stay in the garage.

I did see the results of one that got in a car and destroyed it. But those big cats give me the creeps.

Yeah me too! They have trail camera footage of mountain lions in 2-3 different places in TN now........ game and fish denied their presence for years but now they finally admit it

When I lived in Florida we were archery hunting. At lunch time we were taking a break. Way down the trail in front of us I thought I saw a shepherd come out of the brush and start walking down the trail away from us, when a small on walked out and my partner looking through his binoculars said oh chit that’s no shepherd it a Florida panther “mountain lion” He then started laughing and said it just went back in the brush right down my trail where my climbing stand was. I figured he was joking till we walked down there and sure as heck there were their tracks in the sand. I got in the stand and climbed the tree. Well that lasted around 15 minutes. Every noise I heard I would spin around to see what it was. So down the tree I came a double timed it back to the truck. I didn’t hunt that stand for two weeks.

That is the same here in MN. People get them on a trail camera infrequently. The DNR claims they are young roaming males looking for new territory from the Black Hills. There is no reproducing population though.

Three years ago, there was a mountain lion in and out of Freidrich Wilderness Park NW San Antonio.  It was seen one morning before daybreak on IH-10.  The park is loaded with both trails and a greenway, and people take their dogs to walk them there.  They did shut down the trails.  Another sighting in the town of Castroville, W of San Antonio 5 years earlier.  The most recent was reported not far from me, and again, toward suburban San Antonio.
