Help. Aerated cooler livewell for a 12' aluminum boat

I need some help with this little tutorial. I just got a boat and I don't even know how an aerator pump works, so could someone walk me through this a little?

I don't understand which pump to get between these two if one is even a good option...

From what I understand, the aerator pump is circulating water that has been dumped into the cooler? Am I correct?

Oh, and where do the alligator clips come into this project?

Save yourself the headache and buy one kit that has everything you need if you have the cooler.

Or you can save yourself some money and use two D battery operated portable aerators to provide oxygen to your livewell. I did this for 2 years in a small boat tournament and never once lost a fish. We had some 5lbers in the livewell too.

When I had a 12' jon boat, I used this in a cooler when helping with kid's tournaments.
