The secret to the best action comes from a patented flange design that catches water. These look awesome! Picture these on a swinging jig head. Quote
dj1975232 Posted March 15, 2021 Posted March 15, 2021 I've had about the same luck with the original brush hog and the RI ManBearPig. Quote

Guitarfish Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 My only use was as a trailer on a 1oz bullet jig, trolling for delta stripers. I also added a skirt. My buddy knew all the areas holding fish every year. Adding that bait, made with a regular brush hog, to his arsenal got me a bunch of return rides. We never got skunked. Unfortunately it only lasted one season. He took ill and passed before we could get out the next season. I have never been back out. 1 Quote
Super User Teal Posted March 16, 2021 Super User Posted March 16, 2021 My PB in a lake body, came from the full size brush hog on 1/2 ounce t rig, fishing riprap just as a storm was starting up.. I've caught countless fish on the baby brush hog either weightless or on 1/8 ounce t rig, or a Carolina rig, and slip shot rig on spinning gear. I'm sure there are good knockoffs out there. I have a couple bags of Big bite baits version. But my confidence is in the brush hog. They are cheap and come in a billion colors. Quote

I hope you have opportunities to get a chance to fish more this year. The full size Brush Hog has been a productive bait for me over the years fishing in SW Michigan, I certainly need to try your idea fishing it as a jig trailer I can see it producing big ones. Quote
Plottman1974 Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 I really like the Christie Critter Yum version. $2.99 for an 8 pack. For some reason, probably not accurate, but I seem to have better luck with Yum's version than the brush hog. Quote

I did catch a large mama on it. I'll say it was a conservative 20+lbs, but likely much bigger. That would be an average fish on the east coast but I was happy with it. Turned her loose after an exciting little tug of war. I thank you kindly for the condolences but I was one of hundreds of friends he had. Truly an awesome gift to say he was my bud for a while. A day on the delta with him was an all day social event as we stopped to chat with his many friends. I felt pretty special to be in his boat. I still choke up when I think of the guy. 1 Quote
