Does anyone attach there braid to leader with a spro swivel? Looking to attach braid to leader on spinning rod and picked up some small 35lb swivels

No, I use a connection knot. Don't want a piece of metal, regardless of how small, flying through my guides.

Nope - because no matter how short I make the leader, I inevitably reel it (the swivel) into the rod eye a time or two by accident.

i always have a snap on the end of my braid and always use a fc leader with a #8 spro swivel on my leaders to put into the snap.

The leaders are allready tied direct all my pre rigged texas rigs, jigs, spinners.....everything except top water which i use a snap on the leader to snap on snap off topwaters.

To prevent reeling in the snap and swivel i put a plastic bead on the braid mainline and it stops that problem

So yeah i have many large baggies full of lures allready tied onto leaders with the swivel on the other end just waiting to be snapped on or off at a moments notice.

I have pike to deal with so i can easilly pull out an 80 lb pre made leader allready tied onto a lure or snap onto a lure and keep fishing.

Is it alot of hardware? yes but it works out well for me when bank fishing and wading with chest waders and a small pouch slung over my shoulder and neck where tying new lures on is a big problem.

I use a swivel and I use mono for a main line and floro for a leader. I try to watch and not get the swivel in to the end guide. I don't like the idea of a knot going through the guides. I feel like that will weaken the line from the knot hitting them.

Hah, I have the same fear, so the very rare cases where I use a swivel, I stick one of these above it to protect the tip top.

all tied and spro swiveled up for easy quick change to my main line clip from texas rigs to top waters when out wading in deep water. Put a few of these rigs and other ready to go leaders into a baggie and into my pack and off i go.

I use the VMC ball bearing swivels to attach a leader. I only do this on light line, with the smallest swivel (#0 or #1?). And yes, I'm careful, although I have two rods with stainless guides. Don't have to worry about those two as much.                      jj

It’s always interesting to see different comments on this site.  I would have bet the house that more would say they don’t than do use swivels.  It may have more to do with the number of toothy critters up north which aren’t a problem around here.

It takes me about a minute to tie an FG knot...super small and not noticeable going through eyes..  My leaders on spinning reels are usually 8-10 feet long tied to high vis braid so casting would be a nightmare.  Plus, I have too much invested in my rods to risk damaging the inserts.

I do when trying to add a little weight. I splitshot without the splitshot with a larger one sometimes.

We fish swivels on rigs in the salt quite a bit, so not reeling to the swivel is second nature. Keeps weightless trick worms from spinning up line too.

I'm out the door right now, and I'm fishing braid to short leader with a swivel with small cranks to make them pseudo suspend.

I'm picturing one of those nerdy kids at a Rubik's cube competition.... :)

The Spro 35lb Power Swivels are what I use to connect braid to fluoro.  I actually take it a step further and go braid to quick snap (like a Decoy V-Snap), and then hook the swivel to the V-Snap.  This way if I want to change it up and throw a senko, shakeyhead, squarebill, etc it's a quick swap.
