Dobyns fury 703c compared to carbonlite 2.0

Does anyone have experience with both the dobyns fury 703c and the carbonlite 2.0 medium fast rods? How do they compare? I like the action of the rod, but prefer the carbonlite rods. Looking to get something similar.

I can’t comment on the carbonlite but I’ve had a fury 703c for a while now and it’s a very versatile rod. I mainly use mine for moving baits but works well with light Texas rig or jig

The BPS is  stouter and faster, similar action to Abu Garcia, and mid tier Shimanos. 

They fish quite differently.

I don’t have the 703, but I do have the fury 705 cb. I also have the med fast carbonlite 2.0. Casting rod.  I like the way the carbonlite feels in my hand a little better. You can do allot of stuff with that carbonlite. It’s a fantastic light plastics rod. From 1/8 trigs on up to 1/2-5/8 top water, 3/8 spinnerbait. If you like your square bills on that kind of rod it’s sweet. It’s my favorite rod right now. 

If I’m only taking one rod that’s the one I bring.

This is exactly what I want. Something very versatile. Leaning towards the 6'6" M-f casting 2 piece rod. Need something for the kayak, bank, and family trips. How would you describe the action of the rod? A true fast or more moderate fast? 

 

The two carbonlite rods I have are both xf and I love the rods, but not familiar with their other rod actions. 

 

I have the fury currently, but really like the Winn grips of the carbonlite. But I like the action of the fury, hoping to find the perfect fit.

I don’t have any experience with Dobyns other than handling them in store, but I have been using my Carbonlite 2.0 med-fast for the past two seasons and I’ve thrown spinner bait 3/8-1/2 oz no trailer with no problems on the cast or hook set. But my favorite use for it is lipless cranks, again 3/8 -5/8 the tip is soft enough to really launch em and then keep them hooked up but enough backbone to rip them through the weeds. I also really like the Wynn grips.        Hope this helps.

I don’t have enough experience with allot of other rods to start comparing their fastness to each other. @Eric26 description was good. Along with finesse jigs, 3.8 Swimbaits on appropriate heads. It’s fantastic for 1/8-3/16 t rig with a rage craw. Strap on a decent reel that can throw light ish baits half decent. Some 30 pound power pro and you are good to go.

I have a Shimano SLX MGL 70 with 10lb big game ready to mount, currently on the fury. Hoping to use light texas rigs, finness, squarebills, and light spinnerbaits. A jack of all trades type of set up, not necessarily perfect for all those techniques, but good enough to do them well.

But I am sure stock is coming soon. I will pay full retail for the rod that fits my needs. Sale price would be a bonus but stock is so low nowdays.

I ordered a rod at last years spring classic they honored the sale price 2 weeks after the sale due to the fact they didn’t have it in stock.

I just wanted to say thanks again for your input. I picked up the Carbonlite 2.0 6'6" M-F casting rod today. Played with it at home and seems to be exactly what I am looking for.

 

I was torn on 6'6" vs 7' length and 1 vs 2 piece, but all they had in stock was a single 6'6" M-F 1 piece, which made the decesion pretty easy

 

Plan on using it for 1/8-3/16oz texas rigs, squarebills, light spinnerbaits, senkos, a do it all type rod for light cover. Mainly form a kayak and bank, so the length will probably be beneficial especially in the sit inside kayak.

You’ll like it, it’s perfect will do great with all these things.
