Sherlock 60 Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 I've been following the St Croix Victory Rod roll out and some of the technique names are confusing. I have a pretty good idea what most of them mean but am not sure about "Max-Tactical." And I'll admit that "The Marshall" has me puzzled. ? 1 Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted March 8, 2021 Super User Posted March 8, 2021 My personal opinion is that they're trying to be "cute". It's just fashion. jj Quote
Super User Spankey Posted March 8, 2021 Super User Posted March 8, 2021 SC generally has not been that kind of company on naming things. Maybe just the series of rods. Might work out. Might not. Even the big SC fanboy I am, I’m a bit puzzled the last few years where they are going with their rods. Marketing is a big thing. Competition is huge. Personally I think they have too many of the same rod in just a different series. In their first few tiers of rods any one is not much if any difference in quality. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 9, 2021 Global Moderator Posted March 9, 2021 Don't get caught up in the naming of the rods. Look at the specs and determine if it fits your needs. I got the "Full Contact Finesse". Not really sure what that means, but I liked how the specs looked and so far like the rod. 1 Quote

I fell for the MH version in the Legend X line, and I'm pretty excited about seeing it in a heavier version. Quote

I like it, but the water needs to warm up a bit more before I can really give it a workout. Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted March 9, 2021 Super User Posted March 9, 2021 While these may not actually be 'names' of the rods, by listing them under the 'technique' title St Croix seems to be coming pretty close to naming the sticks in the LTB line. A-Jay Quote
