Chet C Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 my son bought me a new baitcasting rod for Christmas, they have the micro eyes, been playing with the uni knot braid to mono, smallest and best that i trust is 4 or 5 twist on the braid and 3 on the mono, seems ok, anything better that i might have missed. chet Quote
Revival Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 FG knot will probably be the smallest knot. But takes time and practice to master. Lots of different videos on YouTube on how to tie it. They also sell a tool that assist you in holding the line while you tie the knot. I have mid micro guides and use the Alberto knot and they pass through the guides fine. 1 Quote

Matt_3479 Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 I’ve been running an FG knot for 2.5 years now and I love it. It passes through without hicuup but boy was it a royal pain to learn, and even after you master it it can be a pain to do if you slightly forget. I’ve finally gotten good at it, but it took som real time. I’ve had the mono/fluoro/brad snap before my knot. I’ve had hooks bend out, and even a rod blow once before the knot let go. I trust the knot, and it’s super strong. The only time the knot wouldn’t work for me was with power pro super slick. I couldn’t get any knot to stay tight with it, ditch the line when back to straight power pro with a mono or fluoro leader using the fg knot Quote
Super User Bird Posted March 7, 2021 Super User Posted March 7, 2021 I use the Alberto with 15# Power pro to 8# Sunline sniper without issue with micro guides. Whatever knot you decide on, you'll find it best to prevent the knot from entering the reel. Quote

Skunkmaster-k Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 I use the uni to uni for small line too. On the wraps I go 14 on the braid and 5 or 6 on the fluorocarbon. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 I use a regular Albright with no problem and better yet straight braid. 2 Quote
