I know most people can tie an FG knot with varying degrees of success but has anybody ever tried the Daiichi Knot Assist 2.0?

It looks like it works well but I'm just having a hard time justifying spending $45 on something that looks like such a simple device.

I mean if this thing was $15 - $20 I might think about it but $45 seems steep for what it is/does.

No worries. I'm at ease with it. It's just life. ?

I’ve been dealing with Central Serous Retinopathy for 4 years now. It’s correcting itself. Just not fast enough and left permanent damage in my left eye.
Prescription glasses don’t do a thing for it.

I have it, and use it when I tie a FG at home. It does make it easier but isn't necessary. It's just a tool, like many other things.

They work well, but can't help me with the part of the FG that I cannot master, the finish.  I do think $45 seems very steep and feel like I paid a lot less for mine.  Check around on eBay, the Daiichi stuff in general often be found there for cheaper then most tackle shops.

I found a knock-off version that looks almost identical on eBay from Hong Kong for $20 so I bought that instead. At least it's only $20 and not $45 so if it turns out to be useless I'm not out too much :).

I am so worried about you.

Anything up your way? It's starting to happen here.

Any knot you can’t tie reliable every time shouldn’t be used. The FG knot is tricky to tie and that is why tools are being marketed to help tie this very complicated and unreliable knot.

use knots you can tie effectively in wind on the water.

Agreed.

No doubt. I remember when i first heard about the fg knot. As soon as I saw what was entailed, I was like, forget that, lol.

*As Gerald Swindle would say : " First you step on the tag end with your left foot , then come over the top of your right foot , bring the line around your back counter clockwise while facing North - now create 4 tag ends making 26 reverse forward to the left  over laps of each" ... At that point I was like reaching for an adult beverage while shaking my head and saying "no way" ... If a double uni or Crazy Alberto Knott doesn't tie two lines together properly - then I'm fishing something else !

I’m thinking this could help with other line to leader knots too but if it ends up being useless and just collects dust it won’t be the first $20 I’ve wasted on fishing and won’t be the last ?. I’ve got some Tatula’s and with that t-wing system there are very few leader knots that will pass through without getting hung up, the FG is one that if tied tight enough is slim enough to pass through unhindered.
