Looking to pick up a few wiggle warts to try this spring. What are some popular colors and where are you throwing them? I know the original baits are expensive... but are the new ones any good?

I like natural green and brown, or phantom green or brown. Rip rap banks in semi-cold water. Although I’ll throw them year round.

Green crawdad is my favorite color but it looks different now than it use to. I haven't fished the new version so I can't comment on them. I have some KO one knockers that I had painted that work really well for me, and I don't have to worry about losing any of my pre Rap warts.

I just bought my first one recently, I'm guessing it's a newer version? I thought they were more of a shallow diving lure, but the one I got dives 7-11 ft, but maybe I just got a different series.

The most desirable version was the "Pre Rapala" version, before Rapala bough out Storm, but that was 20+ years ago. The newer version is supposed to be closer to the old ones than the last run was, but I haven't fished on to say for sure.

They run that deep, but a WW shines in 3-7 feet of water just slowly bumping along. If it's really cold, you just pull it along with your rod. There's a Youtube video of Dave Baker fishing one who has more knowledge on how to fish on than about anyone.

The brown and green craws either solid or the phantom's are about all I throw. Some bright red in the spring.

I have more pre Rapala warts than I'll ever use but the new ones still work.

I would look into the RK crawler also.

I don't know why you wouldn't fish them. Assuming you are in a boat they can almost

always be recovered.

I do fish them. I've accumulated dozens over the years.

More than I'll ever go through is what I meant.

Around here back about 10 years ago the going rate for the craw colors was about $100 a dozen . Now they've just gotten crazy as everyone knows.

This is one of the one knocker blanks that I've had painted that really does well for me. The single ball "knock", sounds more like the older warts and it moves pretty similar.

I’d go buy a few new Warts and fish the heck out of them. Pick out a few colors that you like. Don’t let anything about the old warts get in your head. New warts, old warts, if you own both they both work.
