ironbjorn Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 The ponds have unfrozen. It's going to be 60* and sunny. I'm off work. I got off work at 2am. It's almost 7am. I just spent 2 hours prepping a pond bag and a few rods to take with me tomorrow. I'm getting up at 11am. I have until 2pm to fish, and then I have to go do my taxes at 3pm. I'll be fishing a Jack Hammer with a Zako trailer; a 6th Sense Divine Hybrid Jig with a Rage Bug trailer; a Dark Sleeper; and the Ned Rig. I'll adjust to other things if necessary. I'm so excited about having seen the ponds wide open that I don't know if I'll actually be able to sleep. The lakes need some more time. Hopefully I'll get on my first fish of 2021. 13 Quote

So nice to feel some warmth without being wind blown. Had to step over thick rock hard shore ice to wade in. Not a whiff throwing 5 presentations, but was able to get a feel for the working range of a new rod. Cormorants were busy about 200ft offshore, so that's a good sign. Saw a dude I know when I was exiting. He got a small Pickerel on a splitshot rig with a night crawler. Dropping down into the 20s yet again again over the weekend, but things should start crackin' next week. 1 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted March 4, 2021 Super User Posted March 4, 2021 I'm hoping my local small ponds are open by Sunday. I have a feeling I may be defeated as well but it will be a blast trying. I should clarify I will probably skunk for bass but the ponds have rainbows so ill likely catch a few fish. 1 Quote
