*TV tournaments which feature the leaders drop shot fishing (or similar tactics using electronic fish finders) is about as exciting as watching paint dry ! That is why when TV tournaments move North where drop shot fishing rules - I'd rather be watching re-runs of Lake Fork , Sam Rayburn , Guntersville , Okeechobee , etc.  I have nothing against drop shot fishing myself - I just hate watching it on TV tournaments ... Is there any specific style of bass fishing you hate watching ? Or conversely , what is your FAVORITE bass fishing technique to watch on TV ?  ... For me hands down - Frog fishing  or Spook fishing are the most exciting bass techniques to watch on TV when a big bass blows up on a top water frog / spook !

During my daughters preschool graduation/celebration of being able to things a normal 5 year old human does ??‍♂️ I was trying to see if those safety scissors on the table would sever any main artery I had. Back up plan was death by inhalation in the custodial closet..

Drop shot is almost as bad

I find traditional dropshot fishing boring to begin with, so watching it is even harder.  Thak god for editing ?

That said I enjoy the bubba shot more and watching it on tv isn't as bad.

.........andlet'ss be honest, nothing is as good as top water for entertainment and adrenaline.

The sport is only going to get more boring to watch with forward facing sonar now quickly becoming the dominant way to fish...at least until they can tap into the pros sonar screen so you can see what’s going on. As such, I don’t watch any tournament coverage these days unless Wheeler or Clunn are in the mix...and then prefer the MLF format over the “big 5” format.

I guess it would depend on the catch rate. The last tournament I fished on Erie, we boated around 45 fish before being forced back into the harbor around 10 AM. I bet that footage would have been better than watching thee hours of someone punching slop with a jig or hauling water with crank.

I like watching the tough tournaments , where limits are hard to come by and finesse techniques are being used . I learn from that . I can see blow ups first hand . What I dont like is a pro acting like a blooming idiot after he catches a big bass . Come on man , act like its not your first time .

I like watching top water bites. Not as much as I like feeling them of course.

One thing I cannot stand is watching someone spend an hour on a single bed trying to catch that one fish. I mean if it is a 10lb bass on bed and she is locked, then fine especially if you are in contention for W. I feel like there could be some moves to other beds, and then come back to that one.

I also will second the, "Its a biggun" and then it comes in barely scoreable. I can see the younger folks not being able to determine size based on bite, and head shakes of course, but not the pros at the highest levels.

*Great points ! Admittedly , I was not much of a fan of the MLF format vs. the "Biggest Five" - but I completely reversed my opinion now ... Wheeler is a "machine" for sure !

It’s a real threat to become as boring as watching golf... no, nothing is that bad I hope!  ?

Anything where they are just looking at a TV screen and dropping down to the fish they see on the screen is pretty boring.  I get they need to do it to put food on the table but it does make for dull shows. I would love a tournament with all those MLF pros where all electrics was banned from use. I would watch that all day long. As someone without electrics I would like to see how to catch fish and know where they is without the electrics.

Anything that involves using 8# line and wiggling a M/L spinning rod while looking down at a screen all day......

Never Mind

?

Exactly.  What most called action was throwing baits that covered a lot of water.....search baits, and power fishing.  With all of the new technology they are going to have their faces locked on their finders looking for fish.  They won’t be throwing nearly as much.

when is comes to professional  fishing, boring drop shot fishing maybe what it takes to get that limit in the boat. no doubt boring , grinding fishing, my hat is off to these guys. To make a living fishing these tournaments has to be very hard. The  travel,  Away from family , some sleeping in campers , bunking up in hotels to share costs. miles on the road , break downs. the money they make looks like a lot goes back into travel etc., its not all free boats and trucks.

it seems that video game fishing is here. i like the old school reading water, reading the bank. fishing structure. but i dont make any money fishing, only spending money fishing.
