Trick worm vs finesse worm

What's better for drop shotting and shakeyheads? I've had my fair share of catches using the zoom finesse worm on a shakeyhead and finesse texas rig but what's the difference between it and the trick worm? Should I get some or just stick with the finesse variation. I really want to get into drop shot fishing this year.

Difference in trick worm and finesse worm is about 2 inches I believe. I like finesse worm on anything, and trick worm anything ......... I’d start with the 4 inch on the drop shot but they both work anywhere nearly anytime

For a shaky head in cold / cooler water the Finesse worm is ideal ... As water worms then the larger profile Trick worm comes into play more . I believe this same rule of thumb would apply to other techniques as well (T-Rig . C-Rig , Drop Shot , etc.) . Later in the "Dog Days Of Summer" or pressured bass situations - the Finesse worm shines more than the Trick worm . I hope this helps !

Drop shot finesse for sure. everything else, there isn't one better than the other, it's a time and place thing. The trick worm is one of my staples, very versatile.

I like to use the finesse worm in a clear water quarry lake I fish. Other areas, I use the standard Trick worm.

There shakey head, meat head and swamp crawler are my favs.  The shakey head worm has a flat head you dont have to bite or cut anything to thread it on a keeper.  The trick and finesse worms are good and I have hundreds of packs that I probably wont use.  I prefer GB Airtail, plasma tails and roboworms over the trick and finesse worms.  I do like the mag finesse and trick worms, they kinds of fish like a senko.

Maybe don’t limit your self to that brand and those two worms. I’m all about what Zoom puts out. I love their products. Their finesse worm is a great product. But maybe look at a RoboWorm also. Slighter build to them. They will draw bites. It will give you another worm to compare them to. The 4 1/2” straight tail and the fat straight tail are two great finesse/drop shot. Fish them t/rig also. Reach out to the factory for a sample and if that doesn’t work I can send you some colors to try of the RoboWorm. The Zoom finesse is not a real bulky worm but the RoboWorm certainly is not. They have a bit different feel to them. Flat bottom worm also.

I use either a shakyhead worm or the finesse worm on a shaky head. I would use the finesse worm on a drop shot. I have used a trick worm on a shakyhead and had a few bites but never caught anything with it. I know this is shocking considering how many people love that setup. I save the trick worm for a Texas rig.

Both these worms are good. If they won't hit the bigger Trick worm, try the finesse worm. They'll usually hit the smaller bait. I like junebug, black, and any purple/ blue colors the best.

Finesse on a shakey head or drop shot. Trick on everything else.

I've gone to the trouble of throwing every worm in a bucket of water and taking note.

When using Neko and shakey head, I prefer a floating worm that stands up on the bottom such as Zman finesse and Zoom finesse. 

 

Drop-shot imo is much more about the knot and how it presents the bait.

It amazes me how well the hookup ratio is with DS and that little hook is in the top lip everytime......like Roboworms for this technique.
