Diablos Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I traded in my boat towing suv(2000 Isuzu Rodeo) for the cash for clunkers. The rodeo was dying a slow death. It had never ending fuel pump issues and gasket issues. I got my wife a Subaru Impreza and I'm taking over our 2004 Forester. It has 80K miles and is rated to tow 2400lbs. My boat, motor, trailer and gear are about 1000lbs. I just installed the hitch today and the rusty bolts made it a three hour job. With my boat being about half the weight of the towing capacity and the vehicle being a 4 cylinder, would installing a tranny cooler be a good idea? I'll be installing it myself. Quote
SkeeterZX225 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 It definetely wouldn't hurt anything to add a tranny cooler to the vehicle, but I don't think its necessary for no more weight than you will be pulling. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted August 2, 2009 Super User Posted August 2, 2009 They are never a bad idea, especially if you plan on towing any distances, especially in a hot climate Quote
HPBB Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 A cool transmission is a happy transmission, so yes it would be a good idea, can't hurt. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted August 2, 2009 Super User Posted August 2, 2009 Do your self a favor and install it. Quote
bass or bass ? Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 The fluid can never be too cool. Upgrade one size larger than you think you need and your transmission will be happy. Quote
