I traded in my boat towing suv(2000 Isuzu Rodeo) for the cash for clunkers. The rodeo was dying a slow death. It had never ending fuel pump issues and gasket issues.

I got my wife a Subaru Impreza and I'm taking over our 2004 Forester. It has 80K miles and is rated to tow 2400lbs. My boat, motor, trailer and gear are about 1000lbs. I just installed the hitch today and the rusty bolts made it a three hour job. :(

With my boat being about half the weight of the towing capacity and the vehicle being a 4 cylinder, would installing a tranny cooler be a good idea? I'll be installing it myself.

They are never a bad idea, especially if you plan on towing any distances, especially in a hot climate

The fluid can never be too cool. Upgrade one size larger than you think you need and your transmission will be happy.
