TriStateBassin106 Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 I recently bought a bunch of 3/8oz original chatterbaits in this color as they were in the walmart clearance bin and I got them for only 2 dollars. My question is do they fish even bite these in white/chartreuse? This is coming from a diehard chatterbait angler. I've never caught any fish on white/chartreuse bladed jigs. Only green pumpkin and black n blue. What would be a good color trailer for this? And what's a good time of year/water quality to fish this color? (Besides summertime) would this color work in lakes/ponds without shad? Quote

These are decent SK Blade minnow & a Zako May have to fish them a bit to figure what that's like where you fish. Either way, Perhaps consider removing the shirt, repainting the bait head from white to black with some cheap fingernail polish and putting a green pumpkin skirt on it. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Dirty_Jigs_Replacement_Skirts_50_Strand_5pk/descpage-DJRSK50.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Z-Man_Banded_Replacement_Skirtz_5pk/descpage-ZMANBSK.html Now you've got your confidence bait for some very short $$$ A-Jay 3 Quote

Is the action pretty much the same or is one better than the other? Quote

Fishlegs Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 I’ve caught a few on a white/chartreuse chatterbait in a pond with no shad. Same with spinnerbaits. Try it and see what happens. I use a white zoom fluke as a trailer. 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted February 28, 2021 Super User Posted February 28, 2021 It’s a good color in murky water. 1 Quote
Sphynx Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 If your chasing smallies and they are on that chartreuse kill mood they'll try their level best to rip that rod out of your hands with a white/chart bait tied on Quote
rtwvumtneer6 Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Gambler_Komodo_Swimbait/descpage-GK.html Another option to consider, if you can find them. Quote
Spy Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 I love chartreuse in stained and shallow water, my go-to color in chatter and spinner baits! My water is heavily pressured yet this color gets action when nothing else will and while not producing huge numbers it does catch the ones you proudly show pics of to your buddies. 1 Quote
MGF Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 I hope so because I just bought a white Chatterbait. I've caught more fish on a white spinnerbait than any other color. 1 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted February 28, 2021 Super User Posted February 28, 2021 Yeah, they'll bite them. You could also just switch out the skirt to any other color. Quote
Luke Barnes Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 My very first chatterbait was this exact one. It caught me plenty of nice fish in ponds with no shad. Ive got a Thundercricket in white/chart now too. Ive got a Berkley Power Swimmer rigged upside down for a trailer. Its a good color combo that's decently natural looking in dirtyish water. Quote
Dens228 Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 I won big bass pot at an Ice Out tourney a couple years ago using a white/chartreuse chatter with a white SK Blade Minnow. Water was around 40 degrees and visibility was next to zero. Caught it in two feet of water on the corner of the lake the sun hit first. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 28, 2021 Super User Posted February 28, 2021 My best producer has been white on white rigged on a Rage Blade. More specifically, a white Rage Structure Bug. Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted February 28, 2021 Super User Posted February 28, 2021 If you have low-visibility water, you may find that they outproduce your darker-colored chatterbaits, especially if there are light-colored baitfish like shad or shiners. Quote
MassBass Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 Thats a good color for stained water. I would put a white grub trailer on that. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 1, 2021 Global Moderator Posted March 1, 2021 One of my most popular colors I make is basically chartreuse and white and it catches tons of fish in all conditions. 1 Quote
waymont Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Straight white and chartruese/white are great colors. Quote

Beat me to it! Those things flat work! Priced right too. The elite series guys were almost all throwing chatterbait or thunder cricket over the weekend and they were all white/chartreuse 1 Quote
