What’s comparable out there? I like the zman finesse shroomz heads, but the hook rusts from the salt in the zman trd’s right on the bend of the hook where the hook exits the plastic. This causes snapped hooks and lost fish. Unacceptable

I like the Lazer Sharp finesse jig heads. Good plastics keeper, sharp hook, and has a V bend sickle style hook that I really like. If its really weedy, then lifted jigs EWG ned heads.

I like both these offerings from Outkast Tackle

I like those too - may have to switch to the Outcast and get them from Omnia

Outkast - Duluth MN

Omnia - Golden Valley, MN

I still love the Z-Man Shroomz. I have not had the issue with the hooks rusting. I remove the bait after each session and dry the hook off before storage.

Berkley half head jigs are my go to backups

If you want a head with the rounded head and small light wire hook the berkley half heads work pretty well.  They arent overpriced like most ned heads and you get 7 or 8 1/16 in a pack, so losing them isnt a big deal.

If you want a bigger hook with thicker wire check out the Owner Blockheads.

The Hayabusa Brush guard is a ball head, but theyre great ned heads as well.

I use the zman ones, bought a number of Owner both in the traditional style and in the EWG style for weedless presentations I'll get a shot at trying out next week, looking forward to it, but you did mention salt water, are you trying to use these for SW or...?

Do you snap the salt out of the worm before you use them?  I pull on them and stretch them way out and then let them go until almost of the salt is gone.  This is on the Zman  worms of course.   I have had worms on shroomz heads for 100’s of fish using the same head and I haven’t had one break from rust.

Eagle Claw ned heads are a dollar a pack cheaper, and the keeper is much better.

I don’t care for the Zman original jig heads. The hooks are light wire and get brittle. I’ve been using the nedlockz jig heads instead without issues. Much stronger and more durable.

Berkley half heads are good, but just be aware that the hook on them is significantly bigger than the shroomz. It’s a 1 or 1/0, I can’t remember.

*I've tried them all I believe and the best ones (unless you make your own) come from site sponsor Siebert Outdoors Products | Siebert Outdoors LLC . The Morel mushroom style jig heads uses a quality Owner hook and powder coated heads in a variety of sizes and colors . I use 1/16th oz. heads the most in Green Pumpkin or Black color in the regular size Morel as my "purest" Ned Rig no - feel retrieve . Next I have a 3/32nd oz. and 1/8th oz. sizes in the Morel XL (Green Pumpkin and Black) which I use for slightly larger Ned Rig set ups like the Robo Ned Worm , Big TRD or the Zoom Ned Stick Worm . These set ups with the heavier weights I use to drag , hop and bounce on the bottom . I hope this helps !

Never even heard of it. I’ll have to give that a try

no, the salt is impregnated in the plastic bait

I don’t remove the baits because I super glue them to the jighead, otherwise they constantly slide down.

It also makes the worm a lot more lively and makes it float better.

I super glue mine as well but pull them off after each session. I would rather lose a TRD bait than a jighead.

Sierberts Morel jigs, and Hyabasa in two styles are all i need.

At Walmart I found some 1/16 oz mushroom head jigs with the smaller hooks, like Ned uses, and it has a decent wire bait holder that holds the cut in half Zinker Z's and TRD's pretty solidly.   The few times the I fished them the elaztech bait didn't shift around on the hook shank at all.   I bought 6 or 7 boxes and at the rate that I fish the Ned rig, that is probably a lifetime supply.
