this may have been a topic before, but lately been watching alot of videos on knots for braid to mono, seems like my fingers are like clubs lately, anyone out here with fingers not doing what they use to do have a easier way to tie a knot for braid to mono.

The Alberto is quick and easy. If tied properly, the knot will not fail you.

I've used the double uni for several years.........I just tied a few leaders on using the Shinu knot, I think that's what it's called.  We'll see how it holds up.

I like using this one.

Here's a bit more info on that video and more specifically, the knot in it.

Might want to check it out.

If the Alberto knot is difficult for you to tie, try the Double Uni.  Its simple, quick to tie and fairly small.

If you don’t have micro guides, this knot takes less time to tie than it took me to type this sentence. I use it for 20 lb braid to 6 or 8 lb mono or YZH.

now that look easy and the fingers should handle it

thanks

I had a snag and wrapped the braid around a dowel and pulled until the mono snapped. It broke at the hook, not the leader knot.

Trust me, it’s pretty strong and easy peasy to tie.

How many turns on each side with the uni knot do you guy's prefer?

I've been using this knot since you posted it up last year. I haven't had any problems with it at all.

Trust me, Lefty Kreh (God rest his soul) wouldn’t have his name associated with a substandard knot. His loop knot is also top-notch.

My fingers are getting clumsy with age as well... anyone using the Albright knot vs. Alberto knot anymore?

The OP is knot tieing challenged so keep it simple.

If you can tie a clinch knot the back to back clinch knot is called a blood knot. Mono doesn’t have FC issues and a simple Blood knot or double Uni knot both work good.

Lines of similar diameter, uni-uni or blood knot (dropper loop knot actually). light braid to heavy leader modified albright.

The Alberto, whose real name is the modified albright isn't that different from the albright, and no more difficult to tie.

I know what the Alberto knot is and have been using it for many years.  What I wanted to know was if there are anglers on this board who currently use the Albright knot.  I'm considering  using the Albright as I'm wondering if there is a difference in knot strength.

The reason for the "modification" of the albright when used with braid isn't a matter of strength, rather it is additional wraps, and laying the wraps over each other to prevent slippage in braid.

The albright is better suited for mono, particularly when attaching it to wire.

The modified albright is easy to tie with the right technique. Easy to show, hard to describe.

I would not use the albright to connect braid to mono, but with enough wraps, snugged tight and a couple of half hitches to finish, it will work. But again, it is no easier to tie than the modified albright.

depending on the diameters, more on the braid than the mono, usually 9 braid, 4 mono.

... which is knot strength

Contrary to what many anglers subscribe to, leaving 3/4" of braid tag allows for a slight amount of slippage and is noticeable if happening.  Over the many years of tying my main to leader knots I've never experienced any negative affects from this practice.
