Who has stocked up for summer?

Now that I have thought more about this, I still have to get an order in for a year's worth of tubes as well. Poor wallet.

I've been picking up some odds and ends all winter. Mostly filling in deficiencies or new variations I want to try. In fact, today I'm picking up some jigs a guy poured for me and maybe have him do some more.

I would assume the manufacturers ramped up production due to the demand last year.  I expect this year for there to be less which could mean some great deals at the end of the year.  Being I haven't had a boat in 9 years I had to due a normal fall/winter restock + but am refraining from adding a tackle stock at home hoping this happens.

Been buying stuff all winter whether I think I need it or will ever use it. GF says last week ' what's up I havent seen any packages in a while?' I  said just cuz you don't see 'em doesn't mean they didn't come only that you weren't here when they did??

my wife picks out her own lures and even paid for 2 of them she lost last year.

i’m biding my time, waiting for the next TW sale event to pick up some bulk hooks, braid, and a few tubes of megastrike.

I got dangerously bored this winter and inventoried everything, like even how much line I have, all of it, every hook, sinker, swivel, bait, lure, bag, tackle box, and everything that gets used just for fishing and did a spreadsheet of it all, it might be my current magnum opus, the practical benefit of it is that I don't have to work nearly as hard to keep track of my gear, just jot a quick note down whenever I lose something and update the spreadsheet that evening before bed, this has all but guaranteed that I will never run out of something and not be aware of it.

More or less yeah, I didn't add running depth to mine though, and I'm going to shamelessly steal that idea off you, I did a separate sheet in the workbook for each major category, one tab for jigs, one for terminal tackle etc, then on each tab I separated them out into subcategories, under the jig tab I have Arkie/hybrid, football heads, finesse/ball head, bladed jigs, swim jigs, so on and so forth, tracks colors, sizes/weights/quantities, things wanting replenished that I'm low on get colored in yellow, things I'm flat ass out of get filled in red, takes me about 5 minutes to flip through and see where I'm at and if anything needs to be reordered, I might add a column for quantity per package for soft plastics so I have an idea how close I am/how many come so I don't end up with 7000 watermelon red flake trick worms or whatever.

Some of my tabs are

'Current Rigs' - this year's arsenal with some stats on rod/reel, the line on it and the main techniques

'Rods/Reels' - detailed info on all

'Terminal' - weights, hooks, etc

'Bass Lures' - all my hardbaits (the sample above is from that)

'Plastics' - all my plastics - type, brand, name, size, color

It got to the point the doorbell would ring and my wife would walk up and pitch the TW box at me like an NCAA level softball pitcher. It’s okay though.  I can handle her best stuff.

Ok, setting aside some serious OCD going on in this thread. And 2 of them actually linked up which is far scarier than I want to ponder ?. I started using a waterproof notebook and making some lure descriptions up. How they run, when and how to use them, line size and type, etc... But it is not, nor ever will be a spreadsheet, more Hemingwayish.

   Walked into my favorite retailer this week. The manager, who knows me, told me quietly that if there was anything I saw that I might need, that I should get it now and don't delay. He mentioned  multiple unanswered orders from his suppliers, and said that he's afraid it won't get better quickly enough to re-energize the season.

   I don't know. After all, it's just his opinion.        jj

I went looking for some Trick Worms today and didn't find any on the shelves. The owner told me they haven't been able to get any Zoom.

Just remember the next time you go fishing and go to pull out the perfect lure for your situation and get that sinking feeling in your stomach because you realized that you forgot to add it to your tackle order and haven't got any more, then you'll remember our strange little spreadsheet mania and perhaps think more kindly of it ?
