Randy2828 Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 To catch bass that are breaking the surface. I think they are eating water bugs that skate on the surface or could be minnows at the surface. Quote
Mr. Aquarium Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 A small black popper. Don’t pop em. Just twitch Quote
Finessegenics Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 Are you sure they’re bass? A lot of times, carp will break the surface and give us false hope. Though if they are bass or panfish, a popper as already mentioned should work well. Quote
Uncle_MC Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 I have good luck fishing walking baits like Spooks when I'm seeing a lot of those skating bugs darting side to side. Its a similar action 1 Quote

I have used Puppies in this situation but after discovering that I have just as much success with the full-size Spooks, I just use that because I prefer bait casting tackle when possible. It makes me believe that it's the sashaying action that is most important. Quote
