Grumpy Dangler Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 Ive seen many ideas and remedies over the internet. Whats the best way you found to prevent or take care of rusted/corroded baits and terminal tackle. Quote
InfantryMP Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 In the off season (winter time) for me, I bring everything inside. That helps out for me. I also have a catch all type of area. So if I tie something else on, I do not throw it back in the 3700 right away. I throw it in my catch all. What that does, is allow the bait to be completely dry before I put it back. This has helped me out a bunch. The plano edge boxes, and others have the built in protection from rust. Those are always an option too. Quote

Michigander Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 Started adding in the Zerust Plastabs into all the trays a couple years ago. That really helped. Also pulling all the trays out, opening them, and letting them dry in the garage after a rainy trip was key. 1 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted February 26, 2021 Super User Posted February 26, 2021 Every box of hard-baits I have has 3-4 of these in one of the compartments. https://www.amazon.com/Desiccant-Moisture-Dehumidifiers-Corrosion-Prevention/dp/B01MZ4ZQ3Z/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=silica+gel+packs&qid=1614349600&sr=8-5 1 Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted February 26, 2021 Super User Posted February 26, 2021 Dry the stuff off prior to putting it away. The little desiccant pouches help in your crank bait box. Don't unnecessarily expose your stored gear to moisture. Quote
swhit140 Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 I just keep a couple of desiccant packs in each tackle box containers, a lot of times I have my wife save them for me. You know how women have to have so many shoes? Obviously if they are soaked take them out to dry out. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 26, 2021 Global Moderator Posted February 26, 2021 Don’t go fishing and your baits won’t rust! I come from the land of rain and there is no cure Quote
throttleplate Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 used lures stay out of the box untill they are dry. Box comes in the house after a trip and all drawers are opened till the next trip. Will towell dry compartments as needed. 1 Quote
