USPS - Beware!!!

Just a heads up if you are planning on shipping anything or thinking of clicking on that next purchase from someone who uses USPS that the item may not ever reach it's destination. 

Normally, I would chock up one lost package as bad luck...never had a lost package previously, but this month I've had two items shipped to me that went missing. A $300 rod and a $70 hoodie never made it to me. I'm also keeping an eye on another package that was literally shipped to me from 3 hours away from where I live that has now taken 6 days and no updates...am I looking at a third missing package from USPS? Quite possibly. 

Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up so you don't end up with a major headache and lots of hassle from the post office.

Sorry to hear that, I try to never buy anything online or ship anything outgoing for fear of what happened to you . The USPS Folks at my local post office are very good though, the only times I have shipped things they arrived promptly

I shipped a box a while back to a member here.

At this point it's totally lost in USPS Limbo, whatever that means.

May never be recovered. 

It's insured but I'd imagine getting that back may harder be than delivering the box on time.

So weak.

Glad I lived most of this life when I did.

I also just shipped two reels I sold in the flea market here. Luckily they arrived to their destination on time using USPS.

I'll be using strictly UPS from now on. Thankfully there's a UPS store near me. 

Normally I like to handle a rod before I purchase, but this was a rod I already own a couple of models of and the price was great...but that deal went sour quick thanks to USPS.

i ordered a fish measuring board last november on ebay. it was shipped USPS. after a lot of back and forth with the seller and the post office, I received it january 27. That gives a whole new meaning to snail mail.

With a Fed Ex and UPS hub nearby I do not ship anything USPS.  They are only a shell of what they used to be.

2 day priority is taking appx 18 business days. I ship and purchase a lot. This is by far the worst I have ever seen any shipping. Thankfully our tax dollars fund the usps, plus we pay a fee to ship, makes it easier to accept the ineptness.

This is normal now-days. I had a package shipped from Rapala - which the warehouse is 10 miles from me - and it took over a week with no updates.

 

On the other hand - a shipment from FishUSA - halfway across the country - took 3 days.

 

It's a crap-shoot.

FedEx is working a lot better for you than for me. I've had a FedEx package sitting in Indianapolis for the last four days that is only going to Tallahassee FL from Louisiana. Despite COVID, despite problems ice and winter storms, the shipping industry as a whole has a long way to go on customer service and delivery fulfillment these days.

Ordered a Daiwa Alphas from Digitaka a couple of weeks ago. It showed up in 5 days via FedEx (ordered on a Friday). Another stick showed up on my door today...ordered Monday and UPS had it here today from CA.

I don't see USPS getting better any time soon...they're circling the toilet.

Ya, my latest order of some Cals had that message for four days after hitting Minneapolis hub. Finally arrived yesterday.

Ordered a reel from a place in Florida recently and it took a week and a day to get. Not bad considering the winter storms that hit during that time.

 

Took advantage of a DSG flash sale on a kayak car carrier kit on Wednesday. Got it today. Fantastic turnaround time. Let’s see how long the other 2 items I ordered to get free shipping take. I am salivating over the Whopper Plopper 60 on the way.

Update on the hoodie...after 13 days in the system, it looks like my hoodie was scanned in GA. Mind you this shipped from southern IN and was supposed to deliver to me in northern IN. 

What a disaster. At least there's some signs of life.

The USPS needs to be revamped from the bottom up but revamping from the top down would work as well.

I'm still trying to figure why the regular mail carrier can't get our mail in the box until 5:00-5:30pm but the substitute guy has everything here by 10:30 am?

 

I bought some things from Macy's for my new house and they arrived a day and a half later UPS. FedEx tracking is the one that makes me nervous.  Item's don't seem to move on the tracking, then they just show up.

I sold a reel to a member here via USPS. Took almost a week and a half to get to him. Really drove me nuts because I consider guys on here like family. Granted, the weather last week affected things. Funny thing, though. I bought a reel that was shipped USPS from CA and it was here in no time.

It's crazy...two days before I posted this I had placed another order. Now I'm watching that one because it went from Columbus, GA to Macon, GA to Atlanta, GA back to Macon, GA and now back to Atlanta, GA....LOL. It's almost a game now to me. I am tracking them every morning and each day I get a chuckle at the service the USPS is providing (you have to laugh to keep from crying)!

 

The hoodie is now in Indianapolis, so at least it's headed in the right direction for the time being.

I received a reel I bought from here today. It was shipped on the 19th USPS Priority. It was at my post office on Wednesday and then sent 175 miles away for a couple of days. I have no idea what they're doing and apparently neither do they. At least it finally got here in one piece.

Years ago, Govt entities would at least apologize for their incompetence. Not anymore. Now it is just a take it or leave it, screw off attitude.

The "New Normal" incorporates incompetence and indifference as their routine standard,  and it is becoming exponentially worse.

While I do agree that the postal service has had issues recently, bear in mind this isn’t really anything new. The postal service is supposed to be self-funded but they’ve been operating in the red for years, relying on bailout after bailout. Can someone explain to me why we still need mail 6 days/week?

IMHO cutting service isn't the problem/answer. Its cutting dead weight, revamping pay scales and benefits and streamlining the services.
