conquest 842c Conquest 842C, Buy or Not?

Need to know: I have 842S(Pair with Excence 3000) and 844C(Pair with Shimano 16 Antares DC).

I have pre ordered 20 Antares DC and here is my question:

Since I have those two set ups, should I buy 842C to pair with my 20 Anteras?

I don't have a Conquest, but my GLX842C is an all time favorite.

I have last years Anteras on on the 842 and look for excuses to use it.

What the hell....stimulate the economy?....and please report back on the DC

The Conquest 842C is an awesome rod.  Mine snapped this fall and G. Loomis is replacing under warranty (though I am still waiting).  I am actually replacing it through a distributor with an 893C which I previously sold and now miss.  I found myself using it mostly with moving baits and though I love the rod, $700 for those applications is overkill in my opinion.  I use spinning for smaller bottom contact applications.

 

I will also add that I had mine paired with an Aldebaran (4.8 oz) and it was one sweet setup.  That rod & reel is not much heavier than your Antares by itself.

My Conquest 842C Here, Thank to RDB that made me make my final decition, I bought the line as well, I only need to wait about 40 days so 21 Antares DC will be available and send to me. I assume 10lb test is good for this combo right?

I need a push or maybe a shove to get a Medium. So far I have a 783C, 843C, 844C and 843S. It's not like I need a medium...

Awesome ATA...I’m glad everything worked out.  If you have the will power to wait 40 days before strapping a reel on that rod to test it out, then you are the MAN.  I think I would strap on a Zebco if that is all I had ?.

LOL. There is a discussion about this on one of the salt water sites, and I'm actually (trying anyway) defending bass guys.

But I don't spend so much on saltwater, I only have one good shark set up and thats $600 for combo, The rest I keep it less than $400.

While I think my 842C is a unicorn I'd really struggle putting a 7.9oz reel. I fish mind with an aldebaran or steez ct sv. I'd imagine you're loosing some of the fun putting the heavy albeit awesome reel one it. I love my 842c

I have Aldebaran as well and its brand new, Ill consider your suggestion, Because I am about to get conquest 903C as well and I need a reel for that. maybe ill use my antares DC on my 903.

honestly I really don't know what to do yet.

ill use it for small jerk baits and crank baits and  anything that less than .5oz and I want to send it deep with that 10lb test fluorocarbon

I use 2 power MBR's for 3-4" underspin/belly weighted hooks, poppers, open hook grubs.
