I use 2 colors of jigs well over 50% of the time. Of those 2 trailers, I use 2 colors almost without fail. The 2 colors are black and blue flake, and green pumpkin in either a YUM Christie Craw or Craw Papi. Jigs are my favorite bait to fish and I'm sure there's times that color matters a lot, but putting it in front of them is way more important most days. My first choice regardless of season, water clarity, or water temperatures is Black-n-Blue. As for trailers my first choice is a Rage Craw in Sapphire Blue, cut about an inch off the tail. Spring for some of y'all apparently means cold water while sping for me means pre-spawn/spawn & warming water. Y'all fishing slow because of cold water, I'm fishing fast because it's pre-spawn/spawn. 9 hours ago, WRB said: You all gotta get over water clarity, bass live and eat prey everyday in all types of water clarity day and night. Which one would be better in this event? Would the bass bite more with something like a rage craw or a beaver trailer because the water is still so cold? Edit: My water clarity is 1ft or less most of the time. For dead action I like a bunch of baits, depending on the size of the jig, fall rate and profile, I like the PB Jester, Reins Ring Craw, ACB Limit out Craw, TRD Hogz for small finesse jigs, Jackall Chunk Craw-the tails and this one is a real sleeper I never hear anything about but the Zoom Super Hog For a little bit of action the Riot Fuzzy Beaver/little fuzzy and Biffle Bug are at the top of my list, you can modify the BB a bunch of different ways. Lots of action baits are the usual Paca/Rage Craws/Chunks respectively, GrandeBass Mega Claw, when Im feeling rich I throw the Dolive Craw and Creatures. Quote
Dens228 Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 Stained water I prefer more movement......for me that means a Reaction Innovations Spicy Beaver. Quote
Deephaven Posted February 25, 2021 Posted February 25, 2021 Spring here the water is cold. That is pork time or when I have none a chunk that resembles it. Once the water warms I up the action level of the trailer. Water clarity for me is more about color than action but my idea of stained water may not match the OPs Quote

There's definitely two conflicting answers that don't have a very standard approach. Only between the ears of anglers. Bass don't think lures with a lot of action are difficult to catch (as a matter of fact, they don't think at all), and they are not attracted to lures with less action in cold water. A jerkbait and a blade bait have significant action and they are some of the best cold water baits. I won't claim to know why, but experience has shown me that more times than not it is a matter of committing less in cold water rather than the action itself, whether that is caused by reduced metabolism, less hunger, or something else, I dunno... 1 Quote
