Well here we go...yes I know its winter! We all have those baits that we bought that really let us down or in some cases maybe even pi#$ed us off. But its Sunday Funday and lets go the other direction...what is a soft bait that lived up to the hype? Ill start with 3- Zoom trick worm and ultravibe speed craw....and the biggest one for me the rage menace. Heard for years how great it is and thought oh yeah ok...don't think I even threw another swim jig trailer last year..no reason to. What say you guys? What impressed you?

Elaztech has impressed me more than anything else in years.  That is why I have around 100 pks ot the stuff.

Ditch, not sure what you mean by hyped up. Hyped by fishermen or hyped by the manufacturer.

I believe (within reason) I could catch a bass anywhere on Berkley soft plastics. I don’t really think PowerBait is over hyped.

Tubes. I've thrown everything for smallmouth over the years and done well. Buddy of mine has always fished tubes so I figured I'd try them. Always throw them now.

I would have to agree that MaxScent does not get the attention that it deserves.  I've gone from skunk to good day by pulling out the MaxScent Generals and Kingtails.

I'm a big user of Zoom Baits also. But I don’t think they get all that hyped up about or really get talked about much on here. I really don’t believe there is much of an advertisements about them as in years past. BUT, not much of a need for it. Time proven product.

Almost anything Berkley for me. Been using Powerbait since I was a kid, and the last couple years I’ve caught an insane amount of smallmouth on a few different Maxscent products, mainly on a drop shot. Been a big fan of the General and the Creature Hawg for largemouth as well. And the Berkley Power Swimmer on an Owner ballhead jig has been killer for bass and big pike in the spring also.

Just about everything Zman makes. Love being able to change plastics and not tear them up taking them off the hook - and catch dozens of fish on one bait. Love the buoyancy too. Awesome baits and right from my hometown. Been fishing them for years before they seemed to really take off

Any bait thrown at the right place at the right time gets my vote.

For me my go to soft baits include

BPS Stick-O

Zoom trick worms

Big Bite Baits Creature bait (baby brush hog)

Big Bite Baits 4" Yo Mama

And of course the zman trd and TRD craw

Covers the basics for me.

Not sure about the “hype”, but my vote easily goes to the GYBC 5” Senko and Zoom Trick Worms. If that’s all I had to fish for bass for the rest of my life, I could live with it, as I know I’d catch fish.

GYCB 5 inch Senko thought it was all hype back in the early early 2000's after fishing it for 18 years I'm convinced it's far from hype.

Yeap.  I bought a bag and didn't understand the big deal.  I rigged one and dropped it in my pool and quickly understood.  They were dynamite for me for a couple years.  Don't throw them much anymore.

I'll say Mr. Twister Phenom. It's been living up to the hype for a long time.

Nikko Hellgrammite. It's a killer even in waters that don't have hellgrammites like South Florida ponds and lakes. The largemouths and peacocks can't resist them. Best soft plastics I've found.

Powebait has been good for years.

Ragetail stuff is very good, mostly the craws, Bugs, Menace, and Eeliminator.

Maxscent Flat worm was a little mental last season.

And the Paul Krews hand poured Goby Swimbait matched the hatch here for me to the tune of several plus sized brown bass.

Hand poured Goby

Another vote for the Zman elaztech because of the durability here.

I also like berkley power bait, the Yamamoto senko, and the rage tail menace.

So many great options out there.

If I had to chose, my two favorites would be the Berkley Pit Boss and the Jackall Archelon. The Archelon has a TINY hole in the butt area where you can insert a worm rattle up into the body (there's a hollow cavity) that a lot of people don't know about.
