If you fish plastics, like 99.9% of bass fishermen do, do yourself a favor and get some Mend-It!

 

This is just a fraction of used plastics I've gathered over the course of the season. Some were more damaged than others because of fish catches. And some just had holes in them from the hook (no fish were caught on them). 

 

So if you aren't already using Mend-It, you really should. You'll save yourself a LOT of money. As everyone knows, plastics aren't cheap nowadays.

I enjoy using it to take pieces/parts of plastics and come up with my own designs as well as repairing them.

It is one of those products that is actually as good as advertised.

I've been using this for several years and it really works. It has saved me several times when 've been running short on something that is producing that particular day.

Very impressive. To be honest I’ve never got into the repairs with it or any other glue/adhesive because I thought it may be offensive.

 

How strong is the odor of it if I may ask? Thanks.

My plumber says that it is the same stuff that he uses on pvc pipe.

That's why I asked about the SDS earlier. Usually some secret goop that sells for $12 an ounce is just another existing product that's being repackaged.

It's not exactly pvc cement. It's way thinner and comes with a strong whiff of MEK. You can find the breakdown of components and ratios tried over the years to match Mend-It. They're out there, but an ounce goes a very long way. It'll fix many hundreds of baits. Smear some vaseline where the cap meets the glass jar to form a seal, then store it in a cool dark place like a drawer. Some claim the frige is the best place. It lasts a long time if you close the cap between each application on each bait.

Do a google search. It will bring you elsewhere. I don't think I'm allowed to link to it here. As I said above, it's thinner and smells like a portion of MEK( Methyl Ethyl Ketone) is mixed in. Could break down several different ways. Whatever the mix, it's unhealthy to breath in for sure. Personally I'm not interested in the expense and time trying to concoct an alternative for something that costs $12 at my local F&S. An ounce goes very, very far.

I've had to work with M.E.K. at one of my jobs - not something you want to breathe in, get on the skin or worse in the eyes. We had to wear air-respirators, goggles, lab-coats and gloves when working with it.

Me too, but ain't that just the way it goes? The good stuff will kill ya.

Yeah, $12 for an ounce is a small price to pay when you consider how much money it saves you in the long run.

 

That pic I posted had about 75 baits. And it didn't even take 1/4 oz to fix them. 75 baits ain't nothing to sneeze at when considering the cost of stuff like Keitech's, Yamamoto etc.

Most of the time I don't use it.  When a plastic gets torn up enough I'll use it for a trailer or put it on a jig head.

I will use it when I'm on my last plastic, and the bass decide that is the bait they want to hit.

Good post.  I also like it.

 

I have spoken with the current owner and he seems like a really decent guy.  I'm happy to send $16 or whatever to a small business guy for an excellent product and service.
