Which version of the color do you throw and why? Normal green pumpkin or GP with some form of fleck? (Green/purple etc)

For me I love green pumpkin purple fleck, It's a staple in my tackle bag for almost anything, works really well in stained water. Green pumpkin blue is also a close second. I Just don't have many bites with standard GP unless I'm fishing clearer water. Berkley makes a great color of GP purple for their pitboss.

When I fish a popular bass color, I always make sure there's AT LEAST a secondary color not so popularly used. Everyone throws a GP/GP with black fleck. Some people will tell you that bass don't become conditioned or trained but for me that goes in one ear and out the other because of my own personal verifiable evidence on the water.

Well, I have been fishing GP and GP/ Black Flake since they were introduced (1997).

My bass still are not conditioned.

I think the difference is small body vs big body of water anglers. I fish almost entirely small water. The bass see the same thing day in and day out when the water is soft. Probably why I hate spinnerbaits too, the kale of bass fishing around here.

I am sure there are some colors I don't have, but what is important to me is

that they match my purse and shoes.  My Senko box is colorful and they all

seem to work about the same. I fish the COLORS I LIKE and the bass will

just have to suck it up!

My newest "Secret" color is 956.  Don't tell anyone.

How are some of the Tackle Warehouse exclusive colors for certain baits? I always wanted to try out the special zman chatterbait TW exclusives they had on there. No idea TW also had some SK stuff.

Pretty such the same as any other color.

It's good if we think it is.

I agree with your take on green pumpkin on soft baits. Does not hurt to have slightly different colors that have a fleck in them. If you put GP in the center there are a handful that surround it or a bit of an off Shute of it. Soft plastics are cheap and easy to try.

The OP could of just as easy started this post about Sexy Shad. If you put Sexy Shad in the middle of a circle there are many satellite patterns that go around that. I do a lot better on some of those other sexys then the original. My opinion they are better by a lot. Most likely I started with original sexy Shad years ago and grew out to those other patterns.

I think you are correct though. Have the norm with you. And have the slight variations with you to throw also. Give them something different to see.

I recently just pick up a sexy version that is hard to find and you don’t see it around at all. It will be new to me for this season. I expect it to catch bass, it will catch bass. Something I just feel that good about. I could be wrong. But right now without it even touching water yet I don’t think so.

Be different, break from the norm. Does not hurt.

Classic ?

Ain't gonna find a lot of Green Pumpkin in my tackle boxes. There are only two & both a Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craws, Green Pumpkin Blue/Blue Claw & Okeechobee Craw.

And where y'all get "fleck"?

It's "flake" as in flakes of glitter.

When used to describe a color I get but the rest are describing "glitter" in the plastic.

I'll give green pumpkin a shot again this year, but it's been a poor producing color for me overall. I've tried flake/ grn pumpkin colors also.                                  I don't know why but I just don't seem to do well on it.

Dont throw a lot pumpkin but the pumpkin I've done best with is called chartreuse pumpkin . Its a little brighter with black flakes . Works good out deep with about five foot of visibility .

I know where you are coming from when it comes to a certain color. Mine happens to be reds. I waste no time on them. I’ve tried. I’ve given it an honest effort. Maybe I’m making a mistake by not sticking to it. I have a problem with it between the shoulder blades.

Sometimes the bass want plain GP, sometimes they want flakes.  So I use both.

I keep colors as simple as I can, so I use GP purple flake. I don't normally buy seedless pumpkin or watermelon.  I have some motor oil looking baits, just cause, and just for Ss&Gs I take a few of each color and marinate them in the same ziplock for a while so in my mind I'm fishing something no one else is. The fish, I'm sure couldn't care less.

Most of the time, I gamble on fish intelligence being low and just throw standard GP/BLK flake baits. It’s what I own the most of. But, for whatever reason, GP BLU flake baits just catch my eye, so I use them regularly, too, especially on those days when the bass are being extra intelligent and ignoring my standard black flake baits ?
