I have one each of Chronarch MGL and Metanium MGL.  The Metanium MGL is wonderful, fits like a glove.  On the other hand, I don't particularly like the Chronarch MGL.  If I had Metanium first, would have returned the Chronarch.  Am considering a less expensive reel for some applications.  How do the sizes of the Curado 70 MGL and SLX MGL compare to the Chronarch and Metanium MGL?

Wondering the same thing. I bought one recently and find it's as close to perfect as anything I've ever fished.

I have both reels and I find the Curado 71 MGL more ergonomic than the SLX 71 MGL. The only reason I picked up the SLX 71 MGL is because the JDM model had a 6:3:1 gear ratio in lefty.

The SLX MGL is a solid reel. It's very palmable and is a perfect choice for a popper/jerkbait or because of the spool pitching and flipping solid finesse reel too. The SLX, believe it or not, is heavier (7.1oz) while the Chronarch weighs in at 6.5oz. The Chronarch is beefier, but it's the smoothest Shimano reel I've ever used. I'm the opposite. I'm not a fan of the Metanium. The Chronarch is the sweet spot.

I would love to take your Chronarch if you hate it that much.

You have never owned a Metanium. LOL

Also, have you even caught a fish or even fished with your Chronarch yet?

You have already posted about owning a reel you never owned and owning rods you never owned. Just slow down a bit. Hahaha

This is good to hear. I have a SLX MGL on the way. It's going on a 2020 Kistler Helium LMH for lighter(ish) plastics. I'm hoping they work well together.

@William21  I'm curious as well, why you don't like Chronarch? I own a MGL one in 7.1 and for me it's a really smooth and very light reel, I like the way it fits, with its low profile it's very palmable, no complaints about the mechanical.

I'm paying for butter, decadence and smooth and I expect them to stay that way.  If it doesn't then raised eyebrows and falling monocles ensue.

Yup. Straight into the Grey Poupon.

I never had a problem with it after 2yrs of use, I take care of all my reels so I hope it still continues to work properly (crossing fingers)

Does the reel itself feel like a plastic that’s smooth?  Always curious about the chronarch mgl

For me it doesn't feel like a plastic, the only plastic feeling it's the non handle sideplate, as I said I've had no issues with it and no complaints about.

If your question is if there are some better reels on the market I'll say yes for sure, but I like Chronarch MGL very much.

I use one  for jig and Texas rig and the other one for squarebills
