We are continuing to update our tackle and moving on to line. It's almost time to get out and catch us some big girls. Who's out there getting it done??

Couple Questions/Suggestions on the Plano Edge Boxes

1. Love the Jig Box. Any Chance they will come out with an Insert that has a smaller gap? For example, Jack Hammers, and some wire hand tied jigs do not fit very snug and move around and easily fall out when the box flips or moves around. A smaller gap will be perfect. I push a piece of old Soft Plastic on top to hold those in place

2. Any chance the Flex will continue to expand and there will be "Jig section" inserts? This way you can use 1/4,1/2, or 3/4 of the box for jigs and the other side as typical sections. This would be really nice for those with limited availability. Aka bank anglers or even those in kayaks to carry less boxes with them. Personally when I am out, half of the Jig box is perfect for me and the number or lures needed. Would love to easily store Cranks, Jerkbaits, or other things in the second half.

3. This is kind of expanding on my last point and expanding the Flex box. Any chance there will be a Crank Bait insert for the Flex, again to use half of the box?

Thanks again!

I have had all my tackle on the kitchen table for about 3 weeks now. My wife asked me when I was going to put it away. Told her I would do that just before the  first day on the boat....

I got a really nasty look ?

I've been buying a few things here and there but I have bags of tackle laying all over the living room. LOL

We're buried in snow and ice so fishing seems a very long way off.

I’m a fan of the edge series boxes. Hopefully I have the right jig/color ?CC0B420A-68CD-4956-8036-F7404A824CA3.thumb.jpeg.44cead63854aebd2cad62e45c7f9f1ce.jpeg

Duck season just ended a couple of weeks ago. I REALLY need to get the garage straightened up. I'm up to my butt in camo & decoys. But I have started getting ready by buying more stuff I probably don't really need. The boat motor went in the shop on Monday so that's a good thing. I'm stopping by the store on my way home for reel oil. I've been using gun oil and I think it's just a little thick. Or I'm just overthinking it!

I just ordered the rest of the line I will need for this year, which should arrive tomorrow and Monday. I also picked up a Plano Edge terminal tackle box after being rather impressed with the Plano Edge jig box late last year. I'll be switching over from the Bass Mafia box mainly because I can only fit so many Bass Mafia boxes in the Black Pak in my kayak and even then they're difficult to get in and out.

I still do have loads of various tackle I need to sort through and organize. I helped the kids organize everything I got them for Christmas this year but haven't gone through my own. Looks like I'm going to do that on Monday when the last few things I bought arrive.

I've bought enough this winter.. lol never enough but god forbid the other half see's what I just ordered and am ready to order .. I'm ready but just got another 9" of snow today . Middle of next week we may jump to 50 for 3 days.. I'll try to get out to throw anything. We r pretty much iced in but there r a couple spots.

I picked up a second jig / bladed jig box to organize my blades jigs because it worked so nice for my regular jigs. Over half of them just slide around because the gap is just slightly too wide between the posts. Hopefully they either come up with a workaround, or change the box a bit to make it more universal for jackhammers.

I also hope they make a flex box in the regular and thin size.

That looks great.  How do finesse jigs fit?

Let that snow come guy. We are gonna have a pretty good season this year out our way. If we are lucky we will have a bit more snow, natural melting away, some spring rains (no flash floods), maybe we will have nice water levels to work with and good water quality.

Spring is when I do maintenance after all my winter fishing! But seriously the first few warm weekends in the spring are a nightmare for fishing around here, we call it amateur season. Everyone that takes their boat out twice a year is taking up the ramp for 35 minutes trying to figure out how to launch.

I had my stuff in Plano waterproof boxes and the Edge Terminal and Jig boxes.  I bought several of the Edge 3700 thins to force me to downsize what I bring on the kayak.  I can still bring more than I need but I am better organized also because I can fit more boxes therefore divide them up better.

I think with the jig box plus the thin, I can fit most of what I need without too much issue. I could probably get a smaller box for my squarebills though, I have a Bass Mafia 3700dd but I can definitely slim that one down. I'm definitely going for more organization on the kayak for this season.

With the terminal tackle box, it has more compartments so I can fit everything for drop shots, ned rigs, carolina rigs, etc but the downside is there is no way to separate large hooks by size and style, there's only 3 compartments for them. Guess I'm gonna have to start eyeballing it, or just carry the EWGs with me normally. 90% of the time I'm using a regular EWG hook for a larger hook anyway.

I got one myself later last year. Filled it up with jigs and it even holds my chatterbaits.

Boxes set-up for this year

BPS-370 - Teminal - I like that this one can divide down more than the Plano 3700, makes nice 'small' compartments for weights and hooks that really don't take up much room and would rattle severely in the larger 3700 compartments. Also lets me store more items per box that way since I don't like mixing things together.

BPS-370 - DT's and Squarebills - these are bulkier than the rest of my cranks, so needed the deeper box.

BPS-370 - Chatterbaits and Soft Swimbaits - Don't have many chatters either, so they take up about 1/3 of the box. Rest is given over to things like Storm GT-360 and other 'dedicated' SB heads as well as the 'dedicated' plastics. My springlock hooks, weighted and unweighted, are also in here for general SSB usage.

Plano Elite 3707-05 - I don't have a huge selection of spinners and buzzbaits, everything I have fits in this with some slots still open for expansion

Plano 3701 - Everything else goes in these. Rest of my cranks (2 boxes), all my jerks (2 boxes), jigs, frogs/poppers, spooks/ploppers (1 box each).

I can store all the boxes in my BPS Extreme Qualifier and the Plano B-Series 3700

For the first time ever I cleaned the cork handles on my rods and put U40 Cork Sealer on them. The reels have been cleaned and lubed. I will put new line on when it gets a little closer for time to go fishing. I still have some tackle to sort out and organize.

I’m starting to think about re-spooling line. It’s only February and I’m almost 3 months from bass fishing but spring will be here before I know it. It’s gonna be 40 here next week. Last week it was -20.

I've already started spooling up - well, backing and braid rigs anyway.

Just think though...only 2 months to open water and panfish (scampers away)

In WI, open water fishing season always opened on the first weekend of May (unless river fishing, then anytime). But starting last year, it changed to April 1st. Super stoked about that!

But judging by how this winter has gone, who knows if we'll even have ice-off by then. Normally we do.

Ya ya ya, I know Wisconsin did that last year so you can target a bass before May if the conditions allow. I think MN may do that too at some point but for now we’re relegated to target panfish. If there was some decent bass fishing in western Wisconsin I might consider trying it. You know of any around Hudson?

I think it’ll be about mid April, maybe a little sooner for ice out. We had 2 brutal weeks of bitter cold temps but quite honestly we haven’t had much snow and the rest of the winter was above average.

I'm sticking with the original prediction I made way back beginning of December - April 12.
