Just curious but why do you need one? The schematics are easily found online

Because I have a spot in my office that I like to collect my boxes. Plus I feel it's good etiquette to send the original box with your reel if you ever sold it.

A local tackle shop may have one sitting around

True story.   Apparently the reels have no value these days unless they have a box.  At least it’s like that out here.   Guess boxes catch fish too? ??‍♂️

on a side note I’m not directing this comment towards the OP just based on the comment posted and my experiences locally with boxes and no boxes sales.

Anything with the box sells for more. Anything.

I save all my boxes because I have noticed that reels sell for more when you have the box.  I hate it though, they take up a ton of my somewhat limited tackle storage space.  Same deal with those cloth covers that a lot of JDM rods come with.  They seem so pointless, you can't use them with any rod storage system I have ever seen and I would far rather pay a few bucks less per rod then to have them.  I have a big old box of them as well, just sitting there taking up space.

I alter all my reels, tuning them to my likes.  The reel boxes make a good filing system for keeping track of the parts.

I keep my reel boxes. I don’t know all about the worth more worth less if selling. Never really sold anything. Gave some reels away.

I will not buy a reel in a plastic clamshell. A guy got me in a Nasci last year. I didn’t take it. Shimanos come in a box. At least all mine have. 3 days later I got one in a sealed box. He had the clamshell hanging.

I’m not implying the clamshells are seconds but in my mind they are seconds or something. Why are they not in a box. There is no shortage of paper construction products in this country or places that construct these packing materials.

? Sorry, I didn't realize it was criminal to like reel boxes! Wow! I'm laughing extremely hard right now!!! I'm blessed to have the equipment I have, not having a box doesn't discount the value or the legitimacy of the product. I just like them. No harm no foul!

Many inexpensive reels are offered in clam-shells to serve the needs of places like Wal-Mart, which offer reels for sale on pegboard displays. Most are also available in boxes as well. They aren't different quality, just different packaging to suit different retailing needs.

Once reels get out of the big box price range, the clam shells are not offered usually.

It’s all good, don’t take anything to heart  on this site man. I can see your point in wanting it. I have boxes and don’t even know why I wanted them. Most likely if I had to sent something back to factory or something. May have done that once or twice but majority of time you can fix yourself. Don’t sweat it.

I'm currently on hold at Shimano to ask if they sell boxes. It's a 10 minute wait time!!! I guess there's a bunch of bored individuals like me, who have a bunch of frivolous questions. I'm probably going to get an answer like "no sir, we don't have extra boxes and we don't sell them...sorry."

? Oh well, it's worth a try, the roads are still shut down in Houston. So it's worth a wasted 10 minutes.

You are probably right. But did you ever take notice at Wally World when you get to the section where the reels are...........

(example: Abu Garcia) they got reels hanging there in clamshell packs that the manufacturer doesn’t have in a catalog or on a website. What’s up with that. I know what I read into that. And it ain’t good. The way I understand it some of you guys have decent Wally Worlds. I despise the ones in my area and will not go in one.

Yeah, I don't do much business at WalMart either, maybe the odd last minute spool of line or a few on sale crankbaits here and there. I don't know how widespread it is, but I do know that some manufacturers will have special Walmart products. Marlin sells a rifle at Walmart that is just like it;s other model except the trigger mechanism isn't current, but it allows Wally to offer it at a significant discount.

I know ABU has over the years had Walmart special models as well. The one that comes to mind is the Ambassadour 5500CL3, the Walmart version of the 5500C3.

Well, after 30 minutes on hold...Shimano doesn't sell individual boxes. I kind of knew that, but figured I'd ask anyway. Oh well, I got a great reel, no box, ain't nobody dying...all is well!

I will pay a reasonable amount for a box!!! I will pay for the shipping too!!!

I've used this example before - after 100 years, the box is worth more than the contents.  The wooden box for a pre-Civil-War fishing plug sold in auction for $12,000.
