I would opt for 15 or 20 lb braid on a ML rod with a leader if you prefer. I think your odds greatly increase with these two changes.

I tournament fish, anything under 1/4oz immediately goes to spinning. I don’t have the patience to mess around with the BFS stuff.

Ordering a second one of these 70s. Theyre going on a pair of flipping sticks and I’m not looking back. First outing if they don’t feel like they’ll work out they’re going on a pair of smaller pitching rods. Boggles my mind there aren’t 1,000 YouTube videos on these such a awesome reel.

I changed out the knobs to the Power Grip II knobs. I have put those knobs on every reel I have.

Agreed. I even use lefties on my spinning reels.

I wonder why they changed name from Technical Grip to Power knob? Prob to separate em by end cap. ... Knobs that come on the 70 are very similar in size and a hape of the previous Gen Tatula knobs. Not bad at all.

looks to be a serious upgrade from the previous 70. Might find its way onto my new jig rod soon
