mheichelbech Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 Sure most of you know back in the 1990s Ranger made some models where the back of the boat had a setback built in. Almost like a fiberglass built jackplate. The 1993 490s models are built this way. Wondering why Ranger didn’t stick with this. Was it problematic? Seemed like the perfect setup to me. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 17, 2021 Super User Posted February 17, 2021 I don't know why they stopped, but it was only set back, and not like a jackplate that allows you to adjust engine height. That splashwell was always stained on the boats that I rode in. Looked like a pain to keep clean. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 I bet it was to help with the weight of 4 stroke motors if people are using a jack plate, moves some buoyancy further back. Quote

You get the water stain and smoke residue or something. At least my old HydraSports did. Yea with respect to the Jack plate I was just talking about how it sets the engine back further. I knew they did have any kind of adjustment. I don’t know why they don’t make boats with Jack plates built on. Or maybe they do...lol! Never been able to afford ordering a new boat with choosing options. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 17, 2021 Super User Posted February 17, 2021 My Bullet required a jack plate to mount a motor. That boat (21 XDC) had a 15" set back from TH Marine. Quote
Tim Kelly Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 Your boat wasn't Ranger fast though John. ? 2 Quote
