I used something similar to these with a droto catch and never looked back

 

When the wood rots I will replace with full poly replacements.

It seems like the Drotto would be a good device to use in tandem with the boards A-Jay installed.

I always leave mine strapped up when I unload, regardless of how steep the ramp is.  I've seen boats slide off their trailer before they're backed into the water, and then you have a serious problem you can't fix.  Its simple enough for me to reach the strap and undo it from the bow.  I lean over and unhook it once I'm backed in.

I used red cedar boards.
Stainless Steel Carriage bolts.

Then mounted the Gator Guards on top. Costs a little more but to me worth every penny.
You will have too back in a little farther at the ramp. And they don’t recommend power loading. Once you get to know your load point it’s no big deal.

Added Surfix bunk slides yesterday in less than 15 minutes in the parking lot of the boat launch and they are incredibly slick. Very easy to winch the boat into place but I needed to remember to either engage the ratchet on the winch or keep the boat in gear under power when loading.

 

They went on right over the worn carpeting that would have needed replacement. The company provided a custom length for my upper 3 ft. bunks.

 

I have an older aluminum G3 and the company does say that they are more likely to scratch the gelcoat on fiberglass hulls than carpet.
