Drew Joe Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 What is the minimum size livewell y'all would recommend for say, one 10 pound bass? This would be used mostly for panfish, but the idea is that it could be used to hold a lunker if one were to catch one that warranted an official measurement at the dock. 1 Quote
Super User Spankey Posted February 15, 2021 Super User Posted February 15, 2021 I think your current live well is going to be fine. Just try to keep the fill pump and circulating pump in working order order. We are not at dog days of summer so temps are on your side also. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Water quality/temp a really, really big factor Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted February 15, 2021 Super User Posted February 15, 2021 The original "book" and resarch on the subject, "Keeping Bass Alive" put out by B.A.S.S./ESPN along with Gene Gilliland and Hal Schramm, and still considered the best reference on the subject by many stated, "Anglers should observe a ratio of no more than 1 pound of bass per gallon of water." I'd start there as a minimum (10 gal. livewell), and preferably go larger if practical. Quote
Super User WRB Posted February 15, 2021 Super User Posted February 15, 2021 I wouldn’t go less then 15 gallons with good aeration, 10 would be minimum. Length, width and depth needs to allow the bass to swim. Tom Quote
NoShoes Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 I actually wanted a live well for this exact purpose. I ended up with a tracker 175x, I believe it has an 18 gallon livewell. I put a 9 lber in it while I was collecting myself to measure it and it filled up quick. Quote
