I’m in need of about 5 new reels. Mostly for squarebills, jerkbaits, rock crawlers, wiggle warts - no big/deep cranks.

Right now all of my reels are Shimano. Mostly Chronarch MGL, some various Metaniums, and some Curado 200.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I’m curious if anyone has any input on Daiwa Tatula Elite reels and how they compare to the Shimano Chronarch?

I had a couple of Tatula SV TW reels a couple of years ago, and they didn’t feel anywhere near as nice/smooth as the Chronarch in my opinion.

I have a tried a few Daiwas over the years for cranking and haven't had issues but, like you, I just like the feel of most Shimano reels, for that purpose, better.  I have 4-5 cranking setups and my favorite reels are the Shimano Antares 12, the Bantam and a Curado DC.

I also just picked up an old Shimano Calcutta TE 101GT (reel before the US Conquest).   I am not going to use it for crankbaits but it's crazy, buttery smooth.  It would make for a great crankbait reel>  So I would assume the current Conquest would be the same.  It's a work of art both inside and out.

Seems you have all the gears you need, all good and smooth for the applications you are talking, if you want a super light and shallow spool one go to the Aldebaran for jerkbaits.

I love mine, it can throw light lure very easy, super smooth and light so it's not a problem to jerk all day long.

I've 50size MGL in 7.4 retrieve, be sure to spool it with a thin line 'cause the spool is pretty shallow.

Chronarch and Met are both great for squarebill and medium crankbaits

My cranking setups have Curado K's and Chronarch MGL's on them. Obviously the better reel is the Chronarch and I love it for my cranking setups.
